Would I be able to break these supports with Eldritch Blast considering it's force damage? And would there be a check involved to know what the right supports are for our purpose?
No check necessary, it’s pretty obvious which ones should break to have this room be flooded instead of the entrance. There are a total of five supports, and you will have to break two of them, dealing 5 bludgeoning damage to each. Now, about Eldritch Blast...
I don’t know if I like that. Eldritch blast is just a energy bolt to me, should be able to target objects. I would like to hear everyone’s thoughts regarding this topic.

I have an issue with spells not being able to target inanimate objects such as this situation; but others being able to with missle weapons. It hamstrings casters who lack more robust weapon training skills, it's not cinematic which I beleive is important in a game we play in our imagination, and it features heavily in novels. How many times has a judicial usage of a fireball or lightning bolt knocking out a post or taking down a ships mast saved the day for our favorite hero's or doomed them to capture?
Now some spells it makes sense, i.e. magic missle or cantrips that don't require an attack roll. They just hit automatically and I think is to powerful as objects can't really get a Dex Save.
I think if you need an attack roll, you should be able to attack an inanimate object.
Yeah, from a flavor standpoint it kinda feels like EB wouldn’t work where other stuff will. However, the PHB description just says ‘crackling energy’. Based on that I’d say it should work. Ultimately, though, this is a DM call.
Regardless, at this point as much as Sharloon abhors inflicted suffering and might view the goblins as just in a bad spot because of their former leader...Yeemik has now brought down whatever happens on himself. Only issue I have now is I assume the random goblins in the back are non-combatants. If we let loose the waters we may be screwing them all over as well. We could just strike hard and fast and kill Yeemik ( especially since Sanctuary is up on Sildar). Might be simplest to just kill him fast and spectacularly. Hopefully the rest would stay clear of us.
If they don’t we give them a ride on Noah Cruise Lines...
(p.s. Razor, I assume Dragonborn breath would work on knocking out supports? I mean lightning blasts crap to flinders all the time but I’m just making sure. Thanks.
As Jeb mentioned, Objects really can’t do Dex Saves, so I don’t know about Breath Weapon. Here’s what- I’ll make a temporary ruling regarding Eldritch Blast, and I will allow it to destroy objects for now. I don’t want to hold up the game, but I also don’t really want to commit on permanent rules changes which may raise more questions than answers. If this comes up again, we’ll discuss it.
When you guys are ready and have described a plan of action, next post will be up.

Given that I think we have three options.
a) turn over gold or treasure sack and hope for the best.
b) try to knock out blocks and supports to release the dammed up water.
c) attack Yeemik and hope the other goblins are scared into retreating etc
At this point with sanctuary in place I almost think if we are gonna make attack rolls then let’s hit something intentionally. Flooding the chamber could be awesome but could also unleash further issues we don’t know about yet. (Like why is it dammed in the first place...unless just for flooding the chambers?) We could also do A but again that takes the control and initiative from us and gives it to Yeemik.
With sanctuary on Sildar I think a fast hit and smash on Yeemik is the way to go. Thoughts? Votes?

RAW it can’t target objects. Confirmed by devs in Sage Advice too: https://www.sageadvice.eu/2016/08/07/eldritch-blast-cant-cast-on-objects-how-do-you-justify-this-with-flavour/
