Ember listens to Talons attempt at performing using the instrument. The squawks and chirps really add a uniqueness to his style. "That was most excellent" She will say when he is finished trying to bolster his confidence. "I think your improving."
Deception: 20
Ember will search through the rest of the items and comes across the locked chests. Can Ember use the picks to open up one of the locked chests?
((Talon uses a second hit die, regaining 8 HP which is (at least) enough to top him off.))
The instrument has taken a bit of a knocking about, and is out of tune, so Talon's performance on it isn't up to his standards.
((It's not showing me your actual rolls at the moment, but I think you'd already 'unlocked' your performance mod, was that included? Maybe some sort of notation to remind me when I need to look up mods for you guys? I don't want to tell you that your roll doesn't get you something when your modifier would push it to one that would. I figured it out. If I'm doing split screen, which I've taken to doing so I can write the post in one and scroll back in the other, mousing over rolls doesn't give you the die results. Has to be fuller screen.))
Blue starts randomly poking at the rivets, and get some of them to press in, and others to slide, but it doesn't yield its secrets. Mark doesn't even get that far.
Ember couches her feedback in pleasantries (+0 to Deception), and Talon seems to take it in the kindness in which it was intended. She has a go with the little bits of metal that the others reported being able to use to open locks, and feels like she almost has something, just through random wiggling, but the picks fall out and the lock resets.
Mark notices that some of the bodies bear the same colored armor and clothing as your party, while others seem to be sailors from the ship. After resting and using his axe to knock open some crates and barrels, he starts digging graves. Returning them to the ground seems the proper thing to do.

From the time of day others determined, you're on the west side of a peninsula that extends to the south. The main island rests to the north. Since Mark and Talon came from the east side of the peninsula, you suspect the ship broke up to the south.

Talon pulls himself away from the instrument reluctantly, especially after Ember's praises. "I do need to tune the thing, though."

Talon's spell doesn't do the trick, it's almost more like a puzzle box than a lock. Big Un is flummoxed too.
In more positive news, Ember found skins of fresh water.
