Oniss follows the rest of the party across the water. Oniss tries to act confident as he passes the crocodiles while reflecting his interactions with them in the beast plane. In reality Oniss is very nervous about crossing near them. He makes his way to the door with Gertrude and the others.
Brunella sits for a few minutes on the river bank, eyes closed. She tries to imagine herself a crocodile, with green skin, sharp teeth, and endless patience. She opens her eyes, and they have a reptilian emptiness to them.
She walks up to edge of the water, and speaks in crocodile. [Hello river dwellers. Are you here to prey on the landwalkers, or to watch?]
Bruella is not sure what the crocodiles are talking about. To Kurma, she calls out "Do you know what a duella is? The crocodiles say they want to play."
She attempts to see if the Crocodiles are truly wanting to play or if there is something more sinister.

Brunella calls to the others. "The crocodiles are just children. They want to play. Let's play with them for a moment."
Brunella has been serious for months, without any time to have fun. She welcomes this opportunity. She grabs a large stick, and dips one end in the water, inviting the crocodile to grab the end.
She then tries to pull on the stick with her end, in a playful contest of strength with the crocodile. "Friends, can you wrestle them too?"
Brunella smiles and laughs. This is the first time anyone has heard her laugh since the wrestling matches in the main city, so long ago. She pulls again, harder, laughing. "Try again, green one!"

Irommek spends a couple of minutes walking around in circles on the surface of the water, trying to get used to feeling of his footing on top of the lake bed. Smiling and laughing a little at Brunella, Irommek finds a stick and waddles out to one of the kid-crocs.
"Here you go you little beastie. I'll play a round before I go and help my friends move the stone door."
Irommek makes for a funny sight. A wide-eyed, open-mouth, old dwarf standing on the water looking back and forth between the giant croc and Brunella.
"Um...Brunella. You are telling momma here that we're friends....right? I'd hate for the first grave that I dig for Valkauna to be a mother trying to protect her babies...or my own for that matter..."

Brunella looks at the angry reptile, her hands up in a nonthreatening manner, making slow expansive gestures to the small crocs. She hopes the little crocs look uninjured.

Kurma tries to show to the beasts, by his gesture, that he doesn't want to fight. " I am just interested in the learning about the shrine"

The old dwarf expertise can't match the crude maneuver of the young crocodile.
That is the moment when the mother shows up. A large-sized beast, with scales that put Irommek's armour to shame.
Brunella clearly hears "What is going on?", while the rest of the party just feel the mother's anger.
[We are playing a game with your little ones], answers Brunella in crocodilian. She pulls on the stick to show the mother that there is no harm here.

"Grrrr.... be careful. The game is fun until someone gets hurt, I say." At that, the crocodile mama goes back to swim around the shrine.
Brunella nods, and tosses the sticks to the crocodile children. [It was fun to play!] she says genuinely.
She then goes across the water to help open the door.
