After Chip wraps up you are shown to your rooms and are given the chance to stow any extra gear that you don't want to carry around. You secure your rooms and as a group head out into the village to get a lay of the land.
You find the village to be about 1000 in size. If you head to the market square you find a few small stalls selling trinkets and food and supplies. Most of the supplies are survival gear, fishing equipment, cold weather gear, snow shoes and the like.

Krom leaves in the room only his backpack and the crossbow. Before heading out, the dwarf adjusts the straps of the hand axes, secures the shield on his back and the war hammer on his hip "We have to be careful. Even if Hlin said that outsiders are not considered for this crazy lottery, it is better to watch ourselves out there."
As the group walks nearby the house with the sun symbol, Krom tries to remember if he can recall any information about it (Religion23 ). If he recalls any information he will immediately inform the group.
"Blackiron Blades, Rendaril’s Emporium, The Hooked Knucklehead and Kelvin’s Comfort." says Krom to the group pointing at the shops "A weapon shop, a general store, a fishing gear shop, I honestly do not know what Kelvin's Comfort may be selling, maybe clothes." after a few moments of pause the dwarf continues "Shall we visit them all and try to gather further information? Maybe purchasing a trinket or two to not look too suspicious? If we still have day light left when we are done, it may be worth our while to check the Town hall. The murders may be linked to Auril, but maybe there are also other trails to follow."
As much of Rhogar's excess was contained in a a very special satchel, there was little need to put away anything. Gorrah huddled up behind a hooded Rhogar's neck for warmth once outside, but occasionally sent out the idle feelings of discomfort or excitement to the others. "The one that sells trinket first then. While perhaps not the most appropriate thought given the grim task before us.... I confess, it would be nice to possess a keepsake of sorts from these lands." He admits with a sheepish grin. "That, and perhaps we might even discover an unexpected clue to these 'other trails' to follow."

"Thanks for the chance to play Chip. I'm certainly getting better but I'll never be a true entertainer like you. I'll sit tonight out and let you wow the crowd. I'd like to play some dice and maybe see what other rumors and goings on I can hear about."
As they make their way to the market square Chill offers a quick correction for Krom.
"The Hooked Knucklehead is another inn and Kelvin’s Comfort is a tavern, no rooms for rent. I'd like to stop at the emporium, see what they have to offer. Better supplies will be in order if we have to trek out into any of the other towns. We are only in the first and Ten-Towns has, well, ten towns. Looking at the map I'd say some take a good deal of walking to get to."
"I should be thanking you, you were a big help" Chip would say with a smile. The dragonborn would then accompany his friends around town.. not really having anything he wants to buy unless somewhere seems to have some cheap magic items for sale..
Krom isn't certain where he had seen the symbol and he wasn't certain whose it was, the pantheon of gods was quite large. But he did recognize it as a symbol of a god, and presumed that the building was likely some sort of shrine or temple.
As you step into Rendaril’s Emporium you find a well stocked trading house.
The entrance facing onto the town square opens into the store-front, where visitors can view an assortment of the finest goods for sale in all of Ten-Towns: fishing rods fashioned from elven yew, yeti-skin coats with scrimshaw buttons, mithral fisithooks, axe heads and daggers crafted by the dwarves of Kelvin’s Cairn, and more. Around the back side of the building is the entrance for wholesalers, where caravan traders offload their stock and local adventurers sell pelts and tusks collected on their travels.

The owner, Rendaril, is a half-elf who introduces himself, offering to help you find anything that would help you survive the cold. Extra cold weather gear? Snowshoes for trekking to the next town? He can even offer help in procuring dog sleds and dogs. In the back you see a few creatures in a pen that none of you had ever seen before.

Rekuberk stays with the rest of the group for the part, mostly seeming to be gauging the mood of the small city. He does not show much interest in the temple as he has never truly been that religious of a person outside of paying respect to the various gods in small way. He does however show interest in the shop and enters quietly. "Let us see what we can find."
"I can not figure to which goddess or god that symbol belongs, but the symbol represents the sun. Considering the current situation of the Ten-towns, I bet that shrine does not get many visitors. We could check it later." says Krom to the group.
As Chill corrects him, Krom says "Thank you my friend. Shall we visit that inn and tavern for more information?"
The dwarf follows the group inside the emporium and inquires Rendaril about the prices of snowshoes and the sleds. He also admires the dwarven made weapons.
You wander the store looking at the wares, bins of goods and other curious items.
"Sleds? A sled costs 20 gp, weighs 300 pounds, and has room at the back for one driver. A sled dog costs 50 gp and can pull 360 pounds. So you'll need a few dogs to pull yourself and gear or one passenger. You can string up to 8 to pull your sled. Just so you know sled dogs must take a short rest after pulling a sled for 1 hour otherwise, they get too tired. Do that to much and they'll not be able to continue. As for those others, those are Axe Beaks! great for packing gear. An axe beak’s splayed toes allow it to run across snow, and it can carry as much weight as a mule. Mules just don't live long up here. You won't see horses either. They can't travel in the snow. They are 50 gp each. They are well trained so they won't normally run off. But crag cats and yeti might scare 'em off. They don't want to be some wandering creatures dinner eh! Snowshoes are 2 gp a pair, great for crossing snowy areas, which is everywhere right now. You can also get crampons which are a metal plate with spikes that is strapped to the sole of a boot. You can wear crampons to keep you from falling while moving across slippery ice."
As you look about the store you each find some interesting items
Chill A small wooden figurine of a yawning walrus, painted in red and black A bone tankard which warms any liquid placed inside
Kazri A small iron key with a frayed blue and gold cord tied to it Driftglobe
Chip A pair of scrimshaw cufflinks with an image of a fisherman on a boat engraved on them An amulet of feathers and flowers that glows blue when it is snowing
Rhogar A scrimshaw-handled ink pen with black runic designs along its length A set of toymakers' tools
Rekuburk A jar containing an unidentifiable, sweet, sticky substance A small bone totem of an owl, a mammoth and a white dragon
Krom A snow globe that doesn’t need to be shaken A double-sided pine amulet with Dwarven runes for "Winter" and "Summer"
"Can I ride an Axe beak?" Chip would ask as he picks up the amulet and places it on the counter. "How much for this amulet as well?" He would ask with a smiel.
"We should all get a pair of those snowshoes with crampons" says Krom to the group. The dwarf asks to Rendaril "Do you have something for our dragonborns friends too?" He will then take from his purse the gold to pay for all the shoes. "I am interested in this amulet, how much does it cost?" says pointing to the amulet with the Dwarven runes. "We may need an Axe beak or two when we leave this town, but I do not think it is wise to purchase them now."
"I'd like to ride an axe beak if possible' Chip would add while giving Krom a friendly pat on the shoulder. "If it is possible for us to each ride an Axe beak.. I would be willing to buy one for each of us." The brass scaled bard would offer.
"I've seen people ride them. Most use them as pack animals but if you don't have a ton of gear to lug around, you could ride them. As the for the amulets and other trinkets, 5 gp each for any of them. Same for those fishing hooks."
Seeing that Kazri has found something very nice,
"Ah, such an item. These dismal days a bit of daylight is nice to have. 400 gold for that. Its a pretty uncommon piece of wonderous work. I've had a local wizard try to undercut that price, but its firm."
Krom pays for the shoes for the whole group and for the Dwarven amulet.
"I would prefer to walk in the snow rather that trust my life to those creatures." says a worried Krom to Chip "They are pack animals, if we purchase them, let's use them for carrying gear not us."
"Thanks for the footwear Krom." Chip would say with a smile. "If you don't want to ride that is fine. I however think I would like a break from trudging through the snow more than I need to... "I'll take your two best trained Axe Beaks. One for gear and one for me... the offer still stands if any you would me to purchase one for each of you... " Chip would add as he starts by placing 5g down for the glowing necklace.
