Ink has recently come across an entry on lycanthropy in his nightly readings.
// I'll PM you and you can decide what to do with it from there. Let me know if you're sticking around this scene while conversing, or if you're backtracking to the lodge, or if you're pressing on through the evening towards Everlund without sleeping, or what have you. //
Ink responds to Crownsguard in a lowered voice, "Rip is upset because every time we get close to a clue about his family, it slips through his fingers."
Then, continuing to the party out loud, "Back to the lodge for the night? Or straight through, with no sleep towards Everlund?"
A flash of understanding comes across Ink's face, "Was anyone struck by one of these beasts? Did any of them draw your blood...," then looking at Crownsguard, "... oh, Umm, or inner fluids? Oil?" Then looking exasperated, "I'm sorry, Crownsguard, I'm not sure how you work."
“Do not be silly, Ink, I am inorganic, I cannot contract...” Crownsguard tilts his head, “Actually, that is a good question. I do not know how the curse of lycanthropy would affect me. Would my structure change, or would only my psyche suffer ill effects?” He considers for a moment, “I have determined that I would like to never find out.”

"I was just remembering that those type of bites tend to be bad and get infected sometimes... Could be bad. Never seen one up close...," his voice trails off, as he whispers to himself, "I wonder how it all works."
Ink keeps his eyes on the others as they prepare to depart.
"Open road to Everlund? Or back to the lodge to hole up. I've tapped out my bigger spells, but I can still be useful. Honestly, I'd prefer pushing forward... Have a bad feeling about waiting it out in the lodge and leave ourselves open to a seige."
"Then push forward, we shall. Quill - patrol. Keep an eye out for those wolves."
Ink walks next to Rip, looking him over as surreptitiously as possible before asking, "So, Rip, I know that you're upset, but, besides that, how are you feeling? It was quire the fight we were all in. Feeling any different now compared to before?"
"Saw some o' them bite at th' lad." Flint say as he loads the werewolf onto the cart. "So we goin' overland ta Everlund or we takin' th' road? I say we track th' giant overland. Best get movin'"
Ink inquires, "Will the cart be able to be drawn overland? The road would likely be faster, no? Or are we ditching the cart?"
"By the way, if that werewolf reverts to her base form, the ropes will be too big for her - so best to keep a watchful eye on her. If she does revert, it'll best to tie her up doubly tight in her humanoid shape so that if she tries to transform again, she'll break her bones, perhaps her neck, in the process."
"So... Rip... How are you feeling?" Ink asks the halfling a little more quietly this time, having caught up to him.
It is several hours to Everlund, but if you push ahead into the night you should get there before dawn. You aren't tired yet, but the sign you passed not an hour earlier said it was another 24 miles to Everlund.
Everlund is 8 hours of normal pace travel. You have two hours of travel free before any CON saves kick in, but after that they will start in earnest. So that means I'll need three Constitution saving throws now from everybody, and that will get you to about midnight. The DC is as follows:
1st CON save: DC 11 2nd CON save: DC 12 3rd CON save: DC 13
You gain one level of exhaustion per failed save. Once you finish rolling these three, you will have the option to rest after all or to keep pressing on. I assume these forced march checks are getting to be tiring...no double meaning intended...but metagaming info here, you are very close to a possible solution :)
So go ahead and roll those Constitution saves, and we'll see what happens! And feel free to roleplay how you're handling the strain of travel. Also, I'll leave it to you as players as what is revealed about Rip's potential condition, and defer ultimately to Rip. As always, your character is free to surmise anything ;)
// Away - I completely forgot that Ink had one level of exhaustion already, so I should have been rolling any ability checks with disadvantage - I take it that it's too late to see if it had an effect during the fight, but everyone should double check their character sheet as it may affect their final level of exhaustion depending on how they roll. //
Ink continues forward with the group... tired... weary... and is next to Rip almost constantly, mostly in silence, but trying to be observant of all around him as he marches.
// 1st CON Save 22 // Ink trudges forward, still exhausted, but seemingly not tiring any further.
// 2nd CON Save 25 // Ink muses aloud that it will be nice to finally get some rest - preferably in a bed.
// 3rdt CON Save 15 // Ink digs deep into his reserves, remembering the many marches he made as part of Silverymoon's army.
Ink throughout the march walks alongside each of those party members he saw either clawed or bitten by a werewolf, and whispers, when no one is in earshot, "At some point, you may have to make a decision - suppress or embrace that which is growing inside of you. I cannot advise you on what would be best, but, I think, both choices have their merits - and their consequences."
Aside from that, Ink will keep close to the werewolf, making observations as he can, sketching and taking notes as he walks.
