Kaenís claps her hands, an excited smile spreading across her face. Whatever the reason for Jason requiring someone to be killed, she was happy for some entertainment in this already dull place. “May I ask, what happens to someone once they perish in Elysium? Do they make their way back here immediately? If so, I will gladly offer myself. Pain does not scare me. If not, well,” she smiles, “Donos seems itching for a fight.”
"Oh, don't bother trying to fight, friend. It's best if you merely bare your neck for a clean swing. And as for what happens, you happen to have hit the nail on the head. It's best if I give a demonstration, though."

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Kaneís will walk forward and turn her head, exposing her neck to Jason. Calling out to Donos, she says; “Too scared to have some fun, Fishboy? I intend to leave this place, so I’d like to know what the rules of this place are. Unless you want to die permanently, that is.”
Rhaecus makes a face. "Is this what you consider 'fun', priestess? I worry for the state of your mind... As for me, I would certainly not condone being killed with no struggle. As a matter of fact, I would not condone being killed at all."
He seems to have more to say as he eyes Jason with caution, but does not say it. Jason of the Argonauts...
Arteusa steps back as well, her hand falling to her sword. "I could never submit to such things without a fight," she says, her legs dancing nervously. "And I have to say, I have already died once; I was not fond of it then, and I do not want to repeat the experience."
Donos watches Kaneis with curiosity on his face. He agrees with Rhaecus. If this is her idea of fun, the sooner they have gone their separate ways, the better.
"You can keep your ideas of fun and cleverness," he says to Kaneis. "If inflicting pain upon yourself is your idea of amusement, why would you want to leave this place?"
He pauses, idly twirling his trident as he thinks, and then continues.
"And while you do appear to enjoy insulting those around you, the juvenile level of the jests does become tiresome. I am neither a fish nor a boy. I am short of stature compared to gangly humans, the color of my skin is unusual compared to that of drowners like yourself, I walk barefoot so that I feel the water more closely. There is much for you to work with."
Jason approaches Kaneís and removes his cape. He tosses it at her, then brings his sword down in a graceful arc to neatly sever her head from her shoulders. Her body and her head fall in tandem, both spitting blood, until they hit the ground with thump.
Kaneís:
Nothing. For a moment, there is nothing. It is not dark, but neither is it light. It is just... nothing. Then the nothing gives way to cold and wet, and you break the surface of the lake, not a dozen feet away from your other, headless body.
A few moments pass, and then there is a splash, and Kaneís springs up from the lake. She wears and wields all equipment that she had previously, though the cape is absent, and remains on her headless corpse.
"Now, watch carefully."
Jason leans down and places an unadorned ring on Kaneís' corpse's finger, then turns it once counterclockwise. The body bursts into flames, burning quicker than one would expect it to, until there is nothing left of it at all, not even ash. As the red cape is consumed by the flame, Kaneís notices a strange weight upon her, as she discovers that a red cape has appeared on top of her. It falls away, and Jason collects it.
"Anything you were buried with, you keep, through even death. But, anything else you've collected on the way is not bound to you, and you will not carry it over. Unless your body is disposed of in the proper way. The best way to go about doing that is a funeral pyre. A burial will work just as well, but it's rather time consuming, of course. You'll all be supplied with these rings, which you or someone else can activate to make you go boom. If you're ever carrying something important, and there's no way out, just use these and you'll bring whatever's on you all the way up here."
Jason wipes off his sword, but does not sheath it.
"By the way, the killing wasn't just to demonstrate something. You may have noticed that you're becoming a bit hungry. When you come back, you happen to do so fully sated. Every time you head out, it's a race against time as much as it's a contest against whatever obstacles and monsters you will meet on the way there. So, before you head out, I'm afraid you all must die. Who's first?"

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
As Kaneís surfaces, instead of the woman you are accustomed to seeing, a tall figure with semi-transparent, cloudy grey skin, colourless eyes, and silver hair emerges. Gently paddling to shore, a placid ‘Told-You-So’ smile on her face, her form gradually shifts into the woman you are familiar with. With a slight wink at Jason, she turns to Donos, and remarks, “That was refreshing, wasn’t it? To answer your question, I find comfort in the inevitable. It is evident we may be dying quite a number of times, so why not familiarise yourself with death? And by the way, it is a rather horrid experience. I had to wait another few eternities before I surfaced.”
”If you’re too afraid of dying for the sake of it, why not go fight Arteusa or someone? I’ve always wanted to observe warriors fight for sport. I never got to myself, and with death being a pittance, it seems like a good place to have some friendly contests.”
"What happened to you in your life that your assumption of everyone else is that there actions are motivated purely by fear?" Donos asks. "Did that work on you? Being goaded into actions by being called afraid?"
Donos moves back up on to the shore.
"I know what I am. I know when I hesitate if it is caution or if it is trepidation. Do not delude yourself that because I am proud of my accomplishments in battle that I am dimwitted and that I can be easily manipulated."
Kaneís laughs. “No, my friend; I have found that fear is a wonderful tool to manipulate other people. What happened to make you so insecure about your deeds to think that anyone questioning your motives is taking jabs at your past? Is it because of the circumstance of your demise?”
Arteusa, watching the argument, scowls and steps forward to Jason. "I tire of their bickering, I've changed my mind; please, let us get this over with."
"Um, hello," Zaela says, "You must be Jason, right? We just arrived, and were told you could help us. Is that correct?"

Donos extends an arm in greeting.
”Greetings, Jason,” he says. “You are embarking upon a great adventure, are you not?”
Nodding to Zaela, he continues, “As my companion notes, we find ourselves in need of assistance getting out of Elysium. This will be an epic journey.”
"Yup, that's me. Before we get going, lemme teach you the basics real quick. It's important that you all know this."
He draws his sword.
"I'm gonna need to kill one of you now. Don't worry, you'll all get your chance soon."
"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Donos jumps back, swinging his shield down and leveling his trident towards Jason.
"Finally, something besides endless walking," Donos says with a smile on his face.
He bows slightly, sweeping his trident from side to side as he does.
"Let us begin."

"I have never submitted my neck to anyone," Donos says. 'I shall not start now."
He moves closer to the edge of the lake, actually stepping into the water.
