Belthran casts faerie fire on three of the Gnolls running toward the wagon. He lights one up. He then dismounts and moves to the wagon, leaving his horse and climbs into the wagon.
Alaric tells billie and Vernon to get down and take cover in the wagon. Alaric dismounts and leads his horse by the reigns and takes cover behind the wagon. He spies a Gnoll archer on a rooftop, but before he can react, another one charges right directly for him. Alaric shoots the immediate threat, but it keeps on coming.
Vrajitor moves forward quickly and meets a charging Gnoll head on. The Ranger swings his chitin sword but the Gnoll warrior deftly dodges the swing. Vrajitor however turns his blade and make a second lightning fast attack which hits.
The Gnoll archer on the roof of the building to the right shoots at the Goliath and strikes him and gives a mad barking laugh. Two other Gnolls approaching from the rear of the wagon and join the other gnoll and both hit the Goliath with their arrows to howls of barking laughter.
The gnoll Alaric was fighting stabs at the nobleman with his spear but misses, one of his comrades however shoots Alaric with his bow.
Another gnoll Archer on a roof to the rear left also shoots the goliath in the wagon. He strikes the goliath in the back. To the howls of the others.
At the front of the wagon Vrajitor is taking all comers as he fights two Gnolls with spears and three archers. He is hit twice by arrows and slashed once at spear point, but he continues to fight.
Seeing his comrade in surrounded Herne grabs his rifle and shoots at one of the Gnolls attacking Vrajitor with a spear.
Sandow runs to the open doorway of the shack on the right. Leaping from the wagon Shakira runs after him. “there’s one on the roof!” she says telepathically, jumping to a windowsill to keep watch.

Alaric will use the combat inspiration and attempts splash a vial of Ankheg acid on the gnoll in front of him. But the Gnoll bats the vial away and it sails off harmlessly in the night.
Vrajitor’s foes are held at bay by his great sword. One of the Gnolls feints but recovers too slowly and the chitin blade slashes it.
The chitin shield proves its worth as only one arrow manages to overcome it to hit the goliath. The rest are easily deflected.
The gnoll the Nobleman is facing is unable to stick Alaric with its spear. But it’s companion with its bow has no such problem as Alaric takes an arrow to the leg.
Three arrows plunge into the Ranger and a slash with the spear, but still the Half Orc warrior is up and fighting, though he is seriously hurt.
Herne hurries to reload his rifle as he sees the mighty Ranger hold out.
From the doorway of a shed Sandow aims and shoots at a Gnoll archer across the road.
Using the doorframe for cover, Sandow lines up a shot and hits the Gnoll archer a glancing wound.
Belthran casts light upon his shield and then he cast healing word upon himself.
Alaric casts bonfire underneath the gnoll attacking him. The gnoll yps and backs away a step. The gnoll looks down at it burnt leg then wonders how that happened. Alaric notices no one is paying any mind to him.
Vrajitor quickly consumes his potion of healing
The Gnolls shooting at the Goliath continue their assault and the Goliath bard falls off the wagon riddled with arrows.
The gnolls fighting the Ranger attack him two spears and two arrows imbed themselves in the Half Orc but his relentless endurance keeps him going.
Herne shoots his rifle and hits one of the Gnolls attacking the ranger.
Seeing his friends on the ground in dire straits, Sandow casts sleep to catch as many foes as possible in its area of effect. Unfortunately only one Gnoll falls.
Vor yells, "Vrajitor, NO!", and runs to him and casts Cure Wounds, then rage at the enemy for so injuring his friend.

The Gnoll that was facing Alaric shakes off his confusion and climbs into the wagon and stabs Billie with his spear.
Another Gnoll Archer shoots Herne and hits him as well.
The Gnoll facing Vrajitor ad the one facing Vor miss with their spear thrusts.
The archer above the room where Winterflame was shoots Vor, as does the Gnoll in the tree, one hits the other misses.
The final Gnoll in the road shoots at Vrajitor shoots and downs the Half-Orc Ranger.

Winterflame sends his familiar to "flyby" against the closest Gnoll to him. He also casts Toll the Dead on the archer on the roof, but it has no effect.
Belthran calls out his thanks as he regains his feet. He use vicious mockery on the gnoll on the roof who shot at Herne he then casts healing word upon himself.
Seeing enemies all around him, Alaric reloads his pistol.
All five of the Gnolls in the front end of the ambush attack Vor. Two arrows find new homes in the Genasi flesh, but the rest of the attacks miss, and Vor is still up.
The gnoll who suffered the scathing mockery by Belthran lets out a howl and lets loose with an arrow, dropping the Goliath once again.
Two arrows fly at Herne and both hit.

cursing at his bad luck with the foe on the opposite roof, Sandow is determined to put a yard-long shaft into his chest - Sandow fires at the foe on the roof and hits but does not kill his opponent.

Alaric searches Belthran’s person for a healing potion. Not finding any, he begins to attempt to stabilize him. The Goliath is awake and stabilized (Healing roll Nat 20. +1 hit point bonus).
In the front ambush the gnoll on the roof shoots Vor and hits. The gnoll Vor is charging at shoots him, and hits, the Gnoll in the tree shoots and misses, the Gnoll on road then shoots and drops the Genasi.
At the rear wagon area, the gnoll on the roof of the shack that Sandow is in shoots Herne, but misses. The Gnoll at the rear of the wagon sees the Goliath recover and shoots him again, but this time he misses. The Gnoll archer by the tree also shoots at the Goliath and hits him, Belthran drops. The final gnoll ambusher shoots Herne from his sniper’s perch on the roof and hits him.
Herne reloads his rifle.
Sandow runs out and drops a healing potion with Alaric and moves to take cover while trying to take cover from the archer remaining on the roof.

Alaric uses the potion of healing on Belthran and then casts Sanctuary on him and leads him to the shack “we need to get out of the line of fire.” He'll also yell to Herne “get the others to safety!”
They then move into the building Sandow just exited.
The gnolls in the front of the ambush come down from their perches to join their brethren for the final kill and prepare to circle the shed. The Gnoll standing on the shed shoots Herne . the old man falls from the driver seat. And lies still on the road. The other gnoll attempts to plug Sandow with an arrow but does not hit.
Sandow will shoot at the archer on the roof again. But Misses.
Winterflame casts Toll the Dead on one of the closest Gnolls to him. He grins with satisfaction as he sees the Gnoll drop its weapons and try to cover its great ears. He then makes his way further down to a building on the opposite side of the road. All the while scanning the dark sky looking for his travelling companion.
Belthran bravely shouts some inspiring words about running away to Sandow (Bardic Inspiration), from in the shack.
Alaric will douse the entrance to the shack with a flask of oil and will finds a clerks desk to use for cover. The nobleman draws his pistol and waits.
Sir Cygnus comes charging from the Northern sky she spies a Gnoll holding a longbow standing on the roof of a mining shack. She guides her mount and dives, sweeping up at just the right moment she impales the gnoll on the shack containing Alaric and Belthran. Killing the gnoll instantly, she then dips the lance to deposit the dead gnoll at the feet of his comrades.
At this point the Gnolls all break and run in different directions.
Valdis Winterflame watches through a window as the gnolls break ranks and run, their distinctive laughing voices retreating.
"Ahh... that'll be Sir Cygnus then." He says, mostly to himself. He turns to his new companions. He pulls back his hood, and pulls down his scarf revealing an older, scarred but still attractive human with a thick black beard and deepset blue eyes. His red robes peeking out beneath his winter coat with its fur lining. "Hello, friends. I am Valdis Winterflame, called Winterflame or even just 'Book.'" Here he nods indicating the thick red book, bound in leather and copper, hanging at his belt. "Sir Cygnus, my travelling companion, should be here shortly."
A snowy white owl perches upon his shoulder, letting out a chirp and almost barking hoot. "This is Noctua, my familiar." He turns back to the others. "A pleasure to meet friendly faces so far from civilization."
The wounded Belthran, torn between his distrust of wizardly magic, anguish at his fallen companions, and gratitude to their timely saviours, is caught uncharacteristically without words. He nods respectfully instead, before slumping against the wall.

In a billowing rush of ice and snow crystal, a large, magnificent white and bluish-grey Hippogriff lands, as if it were a feather, next to Belthan. The figure astride the creature wears a burnished helm crested with brilliant white feathers, chain mail stained the deep blue of an evening sky and a thick cloak of royal purple. Sheathing the lance in a saddle boot and dismounting in one fluid movement, the newcomer moves swiftly to Belthan's side.
In a melodious and definitively feminine voice, she say, "I fear you are sore wounded friend. Fear not, I bring you the touch of Tyr," and laying her hands on him continues. "In Tyr's name do I give you his grace." (Lay on Hands, 10 pts recovered) She stands and moves to Vor and casts Cure Wounds7 "Tyr's blessings upon you as well friend."

Winterflame discretely rolls his eyes at the dramatic entrance. The wizard, perhaps unusually for his kind, tended towards the pragmatic rather than the grandiose. What simultaneously annoyed him and gratified him was that the paladin seemed entirely genuine, and not at all putting on airs or false humility. She simply WAS.
The wizard, gestured towards her, saying to no one in particular. "As I said, my traveling companion, Sir Cygnus."
