As the boat is gliding back towards the dock, Thojan looks over at Caliban and Bayard and says "In this town, there are only two deities, Valkur and Dar'goth. The first we pray to for his favor, the second, we hope never chooses to look our direction."
OOC Dar'goth is known as the god of storms in the village.
Before heading off, Rhazor looks to Allorian and says "Let me know if you find anything out about the poachers. If you can find out what the emblem on the boat's prow, I can tell if it is one of ours, and, if so, whose it is. If there is anything I can do to help you, let me know. I live northwest of the church."
Caliban listens to Thojan and nods in assent to his information. "Bayard should we speak with the priest of the local church to find if they have any information that might be helpful? Maybe someone has confided in them recently."
Allorian grabs Rhazor before he leaves and asks "Rhazor do you or Brue have a boat? Could one of you sail us past this beach to the south of town without raising suspicions? It would be nice to have a general idea of what the area looks like and how many people might be down there."
Later when we get back to the Breaching Whale Allorian will look for Wilfer the stable boy, kneeling down to get on his level and talking in a conspiratorial voice to get Wilfer interested, "Wilfer, would you like to do another job for me? I am looking for a man, (I will give him the description), if you see this man do not talk to him but come straight to me. Check at the docks twice a day. And remember, he's not a nice man so stay away from him."
In response to Allorian's question, Rhazor responds "Brue's father owns the boat you were just on. If you want a lift, you may want to ask him."
At the Breaching Whale, Wilfer agrees to the task, although he does gulp slightly in fear at the description of the man as "not being a nice man."
As Bayard and Caliban approach the local church, they see a middle-aged half-elf bending over trimming some of the shrubs lining the walkway up to the church. Upon hearing their approach, the half-elf turns around and says "Hello there! I don't recall seeing you around before. Can I help you?"
Caliban shakes his head. "No, I was raised in the church in Gillesburg, which is about an 8-hour walk from the town of Alderey. I have only been here a few days just out seeing the world and see what I can do."
(( OOC: Can Caliban know this priest because he has been using his "Shelter of the Faithful" to sleep here? If so what is his name and is there any information he has on him?))
OOC Doh, forgot about that little detail Caliban. He would in fact know you, and his name is Kevril Lanmor. And, it is mid-afternoon
IC As you step closer, the man stands up and takes a second look and then adds "Oh, its you. Caliban isn't. When you didn't come in last night, I figured you'd moved on. You need'n a place to stay this evening?"
"Greetings Kevril, this" he motions to Bayard, "is my friend Bayard. We were wondering if we might have a moment of your time. There are a few mysteries around and we are hoping maybe someone has spoken to you about them and any information you might have could help us solve them." Caliban again motions to Bayard, "ask away."
Bayard chuckles at Caliban turning over the conversation to him, "You weren't paying any attention, were you? Greeting Kevril, may Valkur keep you safe. We've heard about some poaching by outsiders threatening the peace. Have you heard any talk of anyone ferrying strangers over the river?"
Allorian grabs Brue before he takes off and inquires about using his fathers boat, explaining "so if we can use the boat to scout the shore we can find out where they are camped without stumbling into the camp itself. I'm still not sure how all this is connected, if it is at all, but I do want to get those kids back so I can move on to other matters."
Kevril looks thoughtful for a minute before saying "I'm not aware of anyone transporting people to the north side of the river, but, you could check with Alverto and Kornel. They tend to get their boats into dock later than anyone else. People generally don't talk to me about their business. I'm not much of a fisherman, nor much use on the ocean. I learned my trade in Gillesburg. Lake Gilles is much easier to navigate on than the Bay of Storms. But, if I hear of anything, I'll let you know. If you're not stay'n here, where can I leave you a message?"
Brue says "I'm sure my father would be willing to help you, but, it would have to be in the mornin' or evenin'. We spend most of the day out at our fishin' grounds."
"Thank you for your time Kevril, if you find anything you can leave the message at the Breaching Whale," Caliban says as he nods to Kevril. "Perhaps you know where we could find Alverto and Kornel?"
"Tomorrow morning. I'll talk to the others tonight. Where do I meet you?" After his talk with Brue Allorian will retire to his room at the Breaching Whale and get some rest before night comes. He will let the barkeep know to let the rest of the group know that they should meet tonight for a late dinner. If Tandal and Xarrut are around he will tell them that he wants to make a trip to the Mermaid tonight. He remembers that is where black market goods can be bought and sold and if these poachers are selling anything we may find them there.
Kevril responds to Caliban saying "The best place to find Alverto is the dock, either at sunup or dusk. With the long hours that he works, he rarely socializes in the Mermaid, although he occasionally meets his brother Baltak there. But, that is often because they need someone to get the old drunkard out of the bar before he starts a fight. Kornel will show up at the Mermaid a couple times a week. The dock can also be a place to find Kornel."
Brue tells Allorian that he'll have his father ready for him at the dock first thing in the morning.

Bayard nods to Caliban, "Let's go and see what he knows."
Caliban heads off with Bayard to the local church, hoping that their status with the church will influence the priest there to loosen their tongue.

I am going to assume Spoons's post is a joke
Seeing Bayard walk into the tavern, Tandal say ,"Aye any luck"
