Hi! I’m Bri and I’m looking for a group of 6 people who are looking to play an old school DnD game, this game will be point buy and the starting plot is open for interpretation and progression depending on what happens with the players rolls and what unfolds. HOWEVER each choice you make has an affect and you eventually choose your own ending, out of two possible outcomes. A good ending and a bad ending. Will you discover the truth behind the legend? Or will we you be knocking on death’s door? Gather clues and gain allies or enemies as you seek out to solve the mystery of the Wailing Warrior.
Snippet Of The Plot/ Hook/ Cliffhanger;
”It’s in the trees! It’s getting closer!” a humble gnome shouted to his party as he raced through the forest, accompanied by a bard and a dragon born, they could hear hurried footsteps rushing after them, as floor foliage was brushed hurriedly to the side “We need to seek coverage!” The dragon born yelled as he rushed ahead, the environment made worse by the fogged over forest, which was a storm in a tea kettle and so immersed that you couldn’t see in front of you, the bard who was trailing behind tripped over a raised root and fell hard against the forests floor “Ah Help!” He cried as snarling could now be heard over him “Leave him!” The Gnome dismissed as he rushed past the dragon born. Suddenly a beautiful black stallion with red flaming eyes reared up on its hind legs and knocked the gnome off his feet, the next thing he knew his head was sliced clean off and rolled to the dragon horn’s feet. The snarling came closer still as the fog shrouded them, the last thing anyone knew was the terrified roar from the dragon born.
PRESTENT DAY!
You have ventured far and are now weary, so why don’t you hold up for the night? Rest your horse and your weary legs and drink by the fire at the three eyed crow tavern, mingle and exchange a laugh or a story or two while you take a breather from you intrepid voyage.
Terry had always been on his own as fare back as he could remember. If he tried hard he could summon a feeling of his mother but he wasn’t sure if that was a figure of his imagination. His home had for a long time been a cave in the forest. He felt safe surrounded by the earth. A few times, when he was younger he had tried to assimilate into one of the settlements in the outskirts of the forest. But his strange appearance and the fact that he had no clue how to behave around people, it always ended with him going back to his cave.
That was until the day he thought he had gone mad. He sat in his cave, drawing pictures in the dirt, when he heard a female voice. He was more than scared. He looked around in the cave but could se no one. But yet he heard the voice whispering to him. He jumped up, readying for an attack. No attack came but the voice remained. He strained to hear from where the voice came and for the first time he could make out what it said. “The pool by the waterfall, go to pool, hurry, to the pool”. Over and over agin he heard the voice. Shaking his head he left the cave but the voice followed him. Finally he did what the voice asked of him, if nothing more than to make it stop. At the pool he saw an old man, he lay just on the edge of the pool. Something had attacked the man and Terry could see that he was barely alive. He considered turning and walking away. But then he sighed and when to lift up the old man. Taking him with him to his cave, binding his wounds and caring for him.
As the man slowly got better he regained consciousness and instead of the usual fear and suspicion that Terry was used to, the man grateful and kind. Once Terry had told him about the voice the man was amazed and became convinced it was the goddess Chauntea. The man was one of her priests and had been travelling from one of her temple to another one when he had been attacked by a bandits. He had barley made it out of the encounter alive. The old mans name was father Bernard. Father Bernard had become convinced that Terry had been chosen by the goddess and edged him to join the priest in his travels. After some time Terry agreed, he had become used to the company of the priest and so he joined him.
So began Terrys education t become a priest of Chauntea. Now, Terry had been a part of the priesthood for some years. Always fooling father Bernard on his travels between the different temples. But now father Bernard have told Terry it is time for him to go out in the world and take the teachings of Chauntea and do good and help people. His last words to Terry was that Terry should always listen for the voice of the goddess.
At the moment all Terry wanted was a place to seek shelter and get some warm food. The tavern ahead looked like just the place he needed.
I might join; I'm running a campaign of my own and am waiting on a response from another one, so...
Anyway, perhaps the Battelcaster might be accepted? If so...
1st lvl male Variant Human Battlecaster, eventually Death Slayer), feat probably either UA Fighter Initiate Defense or Resilient Dexterity. Hammer out details later.
If not, then either a Half-Elf Fiend Warlock, Red Dragonborn Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer, or a Variant Human Blood Hunter (eventually either a Profane Soul or Lycan)
In terms of coins, if you’re character doesn’t have a lot but would still like to earn, then there will be Halloween themed side quests in this game that help the player, just be mindful of weight you carry, however if you have animal handling + a good wisdom then you will be allowed to have a horse or a mule so they can carry some of the weight. If you’re happy with weight you have and have a good strength level, please ignore this post.
Background: Mercenary (custom for useful proficiencies).
Backstory: Chain was always an odd duck. He never got along with people. Ever since birth his peers at best tolerated him, and he returned the favor, preferring to spend time alone roaming the woods. His mother was always kind to him, but then again, she was kind to everyone, which got her killed pretty quickly when she tried to reason with a band of mercenaries raiding their little home town. Chain tried to fight back, and he even managed to get a few good hits in before he was unceremoniously beaten into submission. The captain was impressed by his bravery and over the years groomed the boy into a fearless man. Chain had a name once, but it's long forgotten by history. Chain had a place to belong once, but it was ravaged by an unwise engagement. Now Chain is free to forge his own path, with the skills and experience he acquired over the years of fighting. He is...unchained.
(Very bad) Backstory: Carlos had a harrowing encounter with Baron von Strahd, who became his patron. Ever since I can remember, he has always had a deadpan (heh heh) expressionless face with a distaste for society at large and small.

Backstory: Father Cadfrey has always been plagued by dreams, even as a child. These dreams were everything from dark things to faraway places. As a child, he would tell his mother of his dreams. She would be going about her daily chores and he will tell the tales to her of what he had dreamed. She would laugh and ask questions of her young son and it was a game both shared. When Cadfrey told her he had dreamed of her death she told him it was an odd and terrible dream and he should never dream of it again. Then the plague came and took her. Cadfrey's father, after his wife's death, sent young Cadfrey to live with a distant relative. Cadfrey was to be raised as a knight and he would bring honor and fame to the family, as his ancestors before him. Cadfrey took to the training, spending many years as a young squire but the dreams never left him. Cadfrey foresaw his father remarrying and his new bride bearing him 3 sons. Cadfrey saw himself, a bit older, wandering the roads and forests of the world, a pilgrim and priest. A year later Cadfrey's father remarried and the next year Cadfrey's half brother was born. Cadfrey's father announced his new son would be the next in succession for the title and family lands. Cadfrey packed his things and started his wandering. Landless, titleless and no family, Cadfrey wandered here and there, helping those he came across that were in need and eventually they started calling him "Father". He protested at first but, eventually, the title stuck and he has not refuted it for some time. Secretly he enjoys the work he is doing. As always, there are the dreams.

He had near strangled the human child that had first screamed it in his face. They put him in chains after that, of course. Would have had him executed, but for Father. Not his real father, but his patron, the one whose word had stopped the killing before the hirsute babe was put to the sword like the rest. He was spared that fate, for a longer, crueler one: St. Andral’s Orphanage. His early years in that place had taught him many things: How to pick the lock on his manacles; how to move around unseen at night to steal a morsel from the cookhouse; and the true meaning of the word “monster”.
Seemingly against the odds, and though the orphanage showed him the path of darkness, he resisted its pull. Although his wit couldn’t hold even the basic tenets of religion or bookishness, he was able to find simple work - digging graves, pulling a plough for peasant farmers bereft of oxen, hauling timber from the forest. Nonetheless, the looks, the fear and the curse dogged his every waking moment, and most of his sleeping ones too.
