"Do you know a pair of large talking wolves?" Rak would ask.. stepping forward while making sure to stay away from the corpse on the ground.. quickling muttering another prayer to bane under his breath. "Going to need you to polish this turd once more." as he casts guidance on himself. "They brought us here.. they told us that the villagers we seek were here. They said terrible things about your master. They said he was responsible for kidnapping the villagers and that he was abusive to his pets! I believe that they were trying to use you... to use you to kill us!" The githyanki would add as he steps forward one more. "Look at our weapons.. what my friend says is true. Our weapons are free of blood. We do not have your masters belongings... but I think the two wolves know who killed them. Perhaps they even helped in his demise! Come mighty beast! Let's to confront those wolves together! We can get the revenge that you deserve for your poor master!"
"Your words fill me with confusion. This wasteland is full of wolves, but ones that talk? I do not know. I will verify what you are saying is true, and see these wolves - but know this, when I return, if you have tricked me and desecrated my master's tomb, I will return and find you, and my vengeance will be the last thing you know."
And with that, the mammoth lumbers outside the lodge towards the cold winter snow.
Phineas, due to the frost and the snow, it's nearly impossible to get any sense of where the prisoners might be. You figure it's going to take you, minus Rak, since he went to follow the Mammoth, looking around in the Lodge. You remember there's the two other entrances outside, and you can clearly see a passageway leading deeper into the lodge, and a path heading north.
Mica, justifiably terrified by the mammoth, intends to get out of there with any townspeople they can find as soon as possible. If I recall correctly from the map, is there another segment to the edifice to the left of the tunnel they entered if we head through the central tunnel?

Kilmus falls in alongside Rak - leaving the snooping and the sneaking to the stealthier members of the party.
As they walk he whispers to Rak 'I hope this works, but if it doesn't fall back on the icy corridor we came through on our way down, hoping it will at least force them to come straight at us and cut down on the chances that they can bring more allies into the fight.'
The shepherd turned bouncer turned warrior would follow the Mammoth at a respectable distance (more than 15 feet back) and would slow to try to hold position within 15 feet of the entrance to the cavern, ready to hold ground against an assault or execute a fighting retreat back down the icy hallway if needed.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Phineas will retrace his steps, moving outside with the others before breaking off and trying to slip into the entrance to the south (left). He tries to do this without the mammoth noticing, but goes either way.

Phineas: You peer around the corner after heading south.A huge, slatted animal cage, with a locked gate attached to it by rusty hinges, stands against the west wall of this chamber. Trapped inside the cage are two shivering humans in cold weather clothing. They look fearfully at you.
Outside: The wolves startle and begin growling when the mammoth approaches, but make no move to attack, only wait. The mammoth is less than pleased. A standoff begins.

Fintan would daze off during the conversation, watching as the two figures walk off behind the mammoth. It'll be bad for the wolves when they are caught up upon. Fintan gives a small smile to herself, before drawing her pelt cloak closer then before. Maybe it was the icy, but maybe it was the dead body upon the ground that made her blood run still. To her, it seemed odd that this body laid in such a mangled matter, especially in a room that looked like a tomb. Perhaps she could see what caused the death to bring peace to the body's companion.
She pulled her gaze away from the body before letting it roam about the room landing on the rune in the the middle of the throne. It seemed like a mighty throne, the icy throne of a warrior. She stepped up to it, trailing her fingers over the piece. Maybe it could give them some clues to who this folk was. It was cool to the touch, with a quite intricate rune that she would try to decipher.

"Hey wolves, have you met this nice mammoth? She says that the giant was her master.. not yours. You said that the giant was mean to you and even kicked you. Does that mean you fought with him? Did you help kill the giant?" Rak would ask looking towards the wolves and then back to the mammoth.
Mica will head over to the far side of the lodge, looking out for anything interesting - escape routes, villagers, valuables, or more importantly, icicles.
Phin: The cage’s metal slats are widely spaced, but not enough for the teenagers to slip between them. The slats are made of metal, and the cold makes them hard to manipulate. It's possible that applying heat to the slats may make them pliable whereupon one of you can use an action to try to pull two of the slats farther apart so that the teenagers can slip through, accomplishing this feat with a successful DC 15 Strength (Athletics) check. It does look like it can be picked with the same DC.
Mica: There's plenty of icicles, that's for sure. You visit a room where the only furniture in the cavernous chamber is a big fur bedroll. The fur is matted and musty. It's not worth much. Another room contains a tunnel in the ground that seems to lead outside, providing an alternate entrance into the lodge. A foul scent pervades the room, which contains five barrels of whale oil. You make a note to let your companions know. Another room contains the sour stench of decay that fills your nostrils. Lying on the ice-packed ground is the frozen corpse of a whale, crudely butchered. Beside it is a blade in the shape of a paring knife the size of a longsword. Finally, you enter a room with a massive table hewn from a single block of ice standing in the middle of tthecold chamber, surrounded by chairs also made of ice. Many of the chairs are chipped and cracked. There's three icewind kobolds, who, upon seeing you snooping around, bark in surprise and attack you. Roll for initiative.
Fintan: Looking at the throne, you just can't figure it out. It seems magical, but..you're not sure how, or why.
Rak:"Fool! I told you it wouldn't work!"Koran growls. "Lets get out of here!" The wolves disengage and being to flee into the snowy wasteland.

Strength: 17
Unsuccessful, he holds up a finger, “Lemme fetch my friends and we’ll be getting you out.”
Rak: 4 With a loud yelp, one of the tricky wolves emits a loud yelp, and after a few moments, they escape. The mammoth watches as they leave, and turns to give you a wicked look, as if you try something bad, you'll get stomped.
Mica: 18, 4, 13
Phineas:"Oh please.."the girl whimpers as you leave. "Please help us..!"
So far, all signs are pointing to a non combat situation as long as you guys keep this up.
