Leon shakes his head. "We aren't going to starve. I'd rather not risk the ire of the centuars."
If anyone does approach the centaurs, Leon will stay far behind and watch, ready to jump in if anything happens.

As they approach the centaur, Aelar tries again to reach into that place inside. I don't know your name or why you aided us...me, but if you're still there, thank you for your help and now help me if you can as we treat with these centaur for aid.
ooc: Any roll for that?
Outwardly, he tries to project feelings of calm and appear needy but unthreatening, forlorn even, though not weak.

Kallista follows Aelar and Lazlo, though she seems more interested in trying to judge what exactly is on the cart than speaking with the centuar in the moment.

One of the centaurs, seeing Lazlo, slows down and looks him up and down.
"Oh, what's THIS now?" he says, folding his arms and leaning back like something about Lazlo offends him.
Another one of the centaurs walks up behind the one that stopped and says something clearly rude in his own language, gesturing at him like he's some sideshow freak. The first centaur responds flippantly before he looks back to Lazlo.
"Make your business quick, peck. We have a schedule to keep." the centaur grumbles, folding his arms. The centaurs are wearing somewhat simple armour, probably to maintain maximum mobility, but the one facing Lazlo is a brute, definitely not the sort to get on the bad side of. The men of the herd are sporting thick beards that would almost give a dwarf a run for their money, giving off an impression of immutable masculinity.
As Aelar makes himself visible, the lead centaur curls his lip.
"MORE of them? Tsk." he mutters. "Watch your bags, everyone."
Meanwhile Kallista can see that the cart has a lot of miscellaneous goods. She recognizes a seal on some of the packages. Looks like the large centaur is delivering mail and food supplies, mostly.

Hyre fastens his grip on the knife. He observes the conversation, watching the reactions of the centaurs, ready to jump in at a moment's notice.

"We were hoping that you'd have pity on us sad two legged misfits- Would you barter some food or provisions? Or perhaps get us steered in the right direction? Lazlo says, bowing low. These Centaurs were certainly rude, but he'd heard worse from some of the villagers in Hon when talking about him.
ooc: Should I bother with persuasion again? It seems like its a bad luck. day for me, but I will if you want.

As Lazlo speaks, Aelar tries to pass him some of the encouragement he received from the Dragon, or whatever was the source of the voice inside. He also nods at all the right places, makes all the right noise...or tries too. His mother's lessons were a long time ago.
ooc: Trying to help Lazlo here, give him Advantage on his Persuasion roll, if he can get another.
Tandor the White, Human Life Cleric
(Who is Kallista talking to?)
Hyre is able to tell that the centaurs are just annoyed, not hostile.
When Kallista shows herself, the lead centaur's eyes all but roll out of his head.
"MORE of them, and they have a she-devil, no less. Look, we're headed to Guiston and we want to make it through the gates before curfew, so state your business or get out of our way. I am rapidly losing patience with this nonsense." the centaur states, folding his arms and stomping his back hoof in irritation.
(Absolutely roll for persuasion again with advantage. The centaur may be rude but he's not beyond negotiation.)

Yay!

(Heh! you did what I did. You just click the 'advantage' dropdown and leave it at one die to roll. It will automatically roll 2 for you, but I'll use the winning roll. Also, Lazlo and Aelar, that's 1 success towards adding to your CHA)
The centaur takes a long sigh and rubs the bridge of his nose. He then looks over to the large centaur with the cart. He smirks, nudging one of his fellows, who seems to understand what's so amusing.
"Go speak to that one. She's got provisions. If you have anything to barter with, she'll deal with it. Not like she can get any slower, right?" he shouts the last part at the large centaur, who replies in their native language. While the group can't understand the words, they're pretty sure she told him to fornicate a part of his anatomy with something rusty and screw like.
"Let's go, daylight's wasting." he signals to the rest of the herd as they make for the river.

Leon shrugs, surprised at Lazlo's incredible display of diplomacy. He follows the rest of the group over to the large centaur.

OOC: sorry, i got a bit confused with what's going on. Kallista was just following behind them, ignore what she said.
Kallista follows behind Leon and Lazlo, avoiding eye contact with the centuars.

Balgrim
With the group deciding to appeal to the centaur's benevolence, Balgrim picks up his sticks and string and makes his way with the group to the large centaur with the cart. He decides when he has a moment he'll try and fashion a crude hunting bow.
(OOC: Will the crafting require a roll of some kind?)
Gulgus Stormbrew - Dwarf, Druid (5), Circle of the Shepherd - Dreams Into Journey
(The crafting will indeed require a survival skill DC of 13 to make an effective hunting bow out of the materials you have. If you fail, the only thing that'll be wasted is one of the branches you're carrying, and you've got a bundle of those. He can keep trying until he succeeds because he's in good condition, even if he's a bit hungry and tired, he's not starving or exhausted.)
The large centaur sees the group approach and looks genuinely surprised. She herself doesn't look much better than them, as bringing up the rear means she's constantly running in their dust, so she was in the middle of patting down her clothes and trying to get the dirt out of her fetlocks.
"Hello there. Looks like you kids have had it pretty hard. You all aren't from around these parts, are you?" she observes, looking them over. "I see you've met the herd leader Halgrave, the arrogant bastard son of a jackass." she mutters.
"I don't know what he promised you, but the supplies here are spoken for. I've got a charter to fulfill." she says apologetically.
She SAYS that, but she doesn't look all that protective of the goods in the wagon. The smell of meat and fragrant spices is enough to make any empty stomach rumble.

Balgrim
"Well now ye be a fair lass ta be stuck in tha dusty rear! We be jus' a few that have been left destitute by tha tyrannical attack on Hon. We dinna ask for much...just a wee bit ta have somethin' on our empty bellies while we continue our journey ta Guiston."
Persuasion: 20
Gulgus Stormbrew - Dwarf, Druid (5), Circle of the Shepherd - Dreams Into Journey
The centaur seems genuinely charmed by such a young dwarf still talking like one of the ancient beards, but her eyes widen when he mentions Hon.
"Hon was attacked?" she asks, tensing up. Her brows furrow, and she takes a closer look at the group. Her eyes linger on Leon for an extra moment, like she recognizes him.
"I have friends in Hon. Had... friends. I'm so sorry. Give me a moment." she says, digging in the wagon until she finds a wrapped up ham and some fruit that look kind of like dates.
"I'll just buy another one of these to fulfill my charter. Here, eat." she says, pushing some of the items around on the wagon so the group has some place to have a meal.
"In return... tell me what happened."

Balgrim
As Balgrim gets some much needed nourishment, he tells her their story.
"They came in tha middle o' tha noche. Tha guards dinna have a chance. Tha sound o' grindin' iron was deafenin'. I was barely outta me cot before a piercin' light sucked out all will ta do anythin'. Then it all went blank. I dinna remember anythin' til I "awoke" in tha caravan. Except for me friends here tha rest o' tha captives had glazed, blank eyes that stared out ta nothin'. Tha wagons were driven by some sort o' strange metal constructs. While our captors were distracted by a dragon attack, we managed ta escape and are now beholden ta your generosity. Arau Thalorn!"
