If it helps, the overall feeling you get from this encounter is that of misery. Mary’s actions have driven away her daughter, some might argue legitimately. But who is to say how one keeps safe in this desolation? She hasn’t required you to set out immediately to find her or anything and as it stands, you’d likely be her best chance of finding Gertruda - or, at least, you might find her in your travels...
Bertolt closes his book and steps out of the house since it seems there is little else for them to do there. With one final look of sympathy towards the crying one he leaves and stands by the door to wait for the others to join him.
Talion nods to the woman, then to the others, and leaves. When they are out of the house he looks back, then around at the ramshackle building. "Something tells me there's going to be a lot more people like here in this god-forsaken place. I..." He looks like he's about to say more but glances at Onyx. "We should see what his lordship wants, I suppose. He may know more about the girl's whereabouts as well."
Erven watches Lucky Bear as we walk to the Burgomaster's house. I wonder if she can detect anything that we cannot? He remains silent, lost in thought, nods to Talion when he mentions the Burgomaster.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
You all shuffle out of the house, closing the door behind you, a bit at a loss in deciphering what has happened. The strange reappearance of the doll foremost in your minds. Thinking back, you note it hasn’t really harmed you, though the vision of Erven running past you as you were fighting it is cause for concern.
Out in the street you plod on towards the Burgomaster mansion. Along the way you are intrigued by some activity up ahead, the first signs of life outside of the tavern really. About 30 feet ahead you see a small push cart. The door to a house is open, a bit of light spilling forth. You hear some words being spoken, the person in the doorway - a woman - is thanking a hunched over figure - also a woman, by the looks of it, and very old. “Thank you. Alright, alright dearie, shh, it’s alright, not to worry now,” the old woman says. The woman in the doorway catches sight of you and closes the door quickly, causing the old hunch backed woman to glance in your direction. You’d wager she might not even be able to see you from even this distance. She coughs a bit and spits in the ground before putting something in her pocket. From this distance you can see some linen draped over the top of the cart. Even from this far away, the scent of baked goods hits your senses. She gets behind the push cart and begins to move on, wooden wheels clattering loudly on the cobbled street. If left on her own, it looks like she’ll pass down an alley on the opposite side of the street, perpendicular to your route. Up further in the distance, maybe 100 feet past the old lady, you can see a large building. You would guess this is the Burgomaster’s house.
Erven, Lucky Bear sniffs the air and her tail bones begin to wag. She whines a little bit and it’s all you can do to keep her from running up to the lady’s baked goods cart!
Erven runs after Lucky Bear, approaches the lady with the cart. "Ahem. Ma'am? What are you selling? I smell something... delicious. What do you have?" He also tries to get Lucky Bear to mind him. "Heel! You had better sit little missy! That's right! Good boy."

The old lady recoils and screams as she sees lucky Bear come running up to her. At first she gives a toothless smile and turns but as it becomes clear that Lucky is not a real dog.... “Ahhh! Get it away! What is it?! What’s wrong with you sonmy?! Are you some sort of idiot or wizard of the dead or something?” After she calms a bit, she shakes her head. “Youth today! Running around playing with dead things!” She softens a bit as you mention her goods. “Ahh, yes well, Can’t you smell boy? Granny’s Pies, these are! And for 1 gold piece you can have one.”
Bertolt turns to look at Ismark with a raised brow as they see the old woman and then learn what she is selling. His brow only raises more as she wants a gold for a pastry. "Is this woman someone you normally see?"

Remember that you shooed (or should I say Sho’d?) away Ismark earlier. He is likely at his residence.

“What’s in the pie, Granny? It does smell good. I would like to get one to share with my companions over there.” He lucks down at Lucky, seeing her as she was in the Death House, with muscle, skin and fur and smiling at him, wagging her tail. “Luckymight like a bit of it too. Why is it so expensive? Is it really that good?” He looks back at the old woman, appraising her.

She eyes you suspiciously. "You should get a leash on the thing. Hmmph!" She looks over your shoulder at your companions, squinting. "Hmm, you're not from around here are you?"she asks, looking you over. "I've seen a lot of years, seen lots of folks coming through here. Lots of stories. It can't have been easy, coming here." She purses her lips thoughtfully and she looks you up and down, shaking her head. "Look at you. Skin and bones! Probably no wife at home either. Can't say I'm surprised. Oh, here." She lifts up a piece of linen on her cart and hobbles over to you. She presents you with a delicious-smelling pie, big enough for all of you by the looks of it. "Here's on eof my maple nut pies - very sweet and tasty! It's free for you, you being new here. But the next one'll cost ye!" She points a finger at you as she finishes speaking, as if daring you to ask for more for free.
Erven, she turns at your questions. "Oh, well! Let's see, I got some meat pies - wide variety there - wolf, boar, chicken, deer. Also got some maple nut - but you know about that one, don't you deary, hee hee! I also have some mint root and cherry, apple pie a course, and even some potato pie." At the price, she scowls. "Well, I'll tell ye why, ye slug! My word!" She grins. "It just so happens these pies have a bit of the magic in 'em. They'll give you the sweetest dreams,"her face falls and sags, and she frowns, "something we don't get too much here anymore. I fear most for the children, deary, growin' up 'fraid of everything!" Her face hardens again, "But such is our lot, you know. Do you and your friends want some more for the road, deary? Or are ye plannin' to stay a while here?"
Erven, you don't get any evil sense from her, or that she isn't telling you the truth, or that she is a vampire in disguise...
Talion watches the interaction, briefly wondering if the old woman might sell herbs or incense, but then becomes suspicious at the offer of a gift. Such 'gifts' are rarely free. "Good dreams, eh?" he says quietly, with a dubious look at the pie.
He glances around at his companions, willing to wait, but anxious to be on his way to the man who possibly represents the real power in the town.
Erven takes the maple nut pie and gives her a gold piece for an apple pie as well. He walks back to the group with a big smile on his face. "Pie! Let's keep walking, but everyone take apiece." He uses his dagger to carve out a little slice of the maple nut pie, cutting a small bit for Lucky Bear as well which he has her sit for, then offers it to everyone. He keeps walking toward the burgomaster's house, chewing on some maple nut pie..

"That's right, young man. Granny's sight may be failing but her ears are still young! You'd do well to mind yer manners, boy." Granny spits out onto the cobblestones, shaking her head, muttering about "young people these days" and how their respect for their elders are lacking.

"Ahh, much obliged deary! Here you go - I put a bit of cinnamon and herbs in the apple. Makes it taste better, if ye ask me!" Looking at the rest of you, she grins, exposing a few blackened humps of teeth. If there is nothing else, she continues on her way, pushing the rickety wooden cart over the cobblestones, ostensibly towards other houses and customers.
Erven, you give a bit to Lucky Bear, who gobbles it down hastily. You wrap the rest and place it in your pack. You frown as it drops to the ground with a messy thud, nothing to keep it in, no body to hold a stomach. You eat a bite and are instantly assailed by a rich maple taste, the crunchiness of the nuts inside a perfect counter to the smoothness of the sweet and rich pastry. In no time, you eat it all, taken aback by how good it is. A gold piece well spent, you think as you walk towards the mansion.
Bertolt will take the pie and do his best to wrap it for later, nodding to the old woman as he moves to follow Evren towards the largest house in the small village.
You're able to wrap it up and place it in your pack.
Anyone else want to do anything at this point? Or okay to move on to the Burgomaster's Mansion?
Erven would like to stop in the merchant's shop on the way to the burgomaster's house if everyone agrees. "Talion, Sho, Bert, Onyx - - can we stop in here for a minute? I would like to look at their supplies."
