Okay, you have all made it outside the church and know where Doru is. He is on the church steps, sobbing and feeling miserable, trying to flee (or so it seems). You note with interest that nothing happens to him in the daytime, contrary to whatever folklore you grew up with back home in Faerun. This certainly is not home but the very fact also adds to your knowledge of this place. The roiling clouds above, the growing mists on the ground, and the drop in temperature as you step outside are concerning as well. You are a bit confused by his words. However.....
You all hear the sounds of flapping wings before you see anything. But out of the mists come swarms of bats that flutter chaotically around a figure in the middle of it all. As you look closely, you see the same well-dressed nobleman type you saw earlier at the funeral! As you look upon him, you feel a low hum and sense a overwhelming wrongness about him. His grin widens to show sharp incisors. He looks at Doru, "My poor child, what have they done to you?" he speaks in a soft but commanding voice, but it doesn't really seem to fit his body or sex. "I would never do such things to you. Let us come away from this place."
Erven moves two spaces east, drops his longbow and pulls out his shield and rapier. He still feels the protection given by Onyx and he still has Doru under his Hunter's mark. With his Dread Ambusher skill, he makes two attacks with his rapier on Doru. "I will put you out of your misery, poor Doru. I'm sorry that it has to be this way."
Rapier attack one : Attack: 18 Damage: 9
Rapier attack two : Attack: 9 Damage: 11

Your first attack hits, eliciting a hiss from the spawn, but the second is dodged by Doru.

Sho examines the new threatening figure emerging from the swarm of bats and he wonders at the implications of his statement. He glances over at Doru, who is sobbing bitterly on the steps of the church, and decides that he cannot let him escape.
[Okay, sorry for the delay. Schools coming back and then we get a email saying it's going to be online so lots of "really fun" prep to do! yay!]
Two swarms of bats - B4 and B5 - flap towards you Everlie and will try to bite you. B5gets to the space under you, which is occupied by Erven.. B4 attack on Everlie: Attack: 22Damage:7. B5 attack on Erven: Attack: 18Damage:3.
The unknown figure strides confidently and calmly towards Doru, frowning slightly as he takes in the burned spawn. As he does, he begins a light chant waving his arms and making unfamiliar, very quick finger movements. As he stops at Doru, he reaches out and touches the creature and Doru disappears from sight!
The well dressed figure steps back 5 feet, is at the corner of the building. It looks at all of you. "He's mine," it says, smiling again and shrugging slightly. "Not for you."
Dorutakes their action. You can hear his feet scratching on the stairs and then the closest of you see the indentations on the grass. Then nothing.
Being surrounded, and bitten, by bats AND having his target disappear, Everlie would fall back into a range! 4 With the rage comes a wild surge of magic and magic infuses Everlie's Great Sword!
Magic infuses one weapon of your choice that you are holding. Until your rage ends, the weapon’s damage type changes to force, and it gains the light and thrown properties, with a normal range of 20 feet and a long range of 60 feet. If the weapon leaves your hand, the weapon reappears in your hand at the end of the current turn.
And while that is interesting and all, Everlie isn't ready to chuck his sword just yet, instead he swings at the bats surrounding him with a growl...

@Everlie - you swipe at the annoying creatures, slicing several in half - the cloud of bats (B4) lessens considerably. @Bertolt - you're right, I did not save roll for Doru before - sorry - he fails and takes the full 3 psychic damage. B2 - con save - 5. B6 - con save - 10. B7 - con save - 5.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As a result of Bertolt's spell, B2 and B7 only have a few bats remaining, though B6 has more in the swarm.
B7 - this swarm fixates on Bertolt and will enter his area and attack! Attack:7Damage:3. B2- the few bats left move to the square beneath Bertolt, in front of Talion. B6 - the swarm moves to the area underneath Erven, in front of Bertolt.
Talion moves back and launches a bolt of arcane energy at the swarm of bats nearest him (B2) before they can swarm over him, then moves further to the northwest just as Osgar appears north of B7, trying to rake the bats surrounding Bert with his claws.
Talion Movement: W, (spell), N, NW Talion Eldritch Blast: 12 Damage: 7 Talion Bonus Action: Order Osgar to attack B7 then move to west of Talion. Osgar Movement: S, attack B7, W, W, W, W (to 1 square west of Talion) Osgar Attack: 20 Damage: 4 (normal attack: advantage(invisible), disadvantage (swam on Bert)); if hit take 11 poison damage, half on a DC14 CON save.
Osgar pips into view as it comes into the swarm, pecking and biting the tiny bats. They fall to the ground and the swarm is gone. Talion steps back and releases a glowing blast of energy riddled with black veins at B2. As the energies wash over the bats, they too fall to the ground in small thumps, like apples falling from a tree.
B1 and B3 use their actions to get closer to the party.
Erven and Sho are up!
