Talion is surprised by the viciousness of the attack on Onyx, but also strangely relieved. Although it is fast for a slug, it seems to be a fleshy, mortal thing that they face, and not one of the unnatural horrors that they have met so far.
He glances quickly at Lucky, before re-focusing his malice on the creature. A moment later arcane energies launch from his hand before he moves to cover in the alcove to the east, keeping the creature in sight but uncertain what other horrors might lurk in the tunnels. "Come girl" he says to the dog, hoping to get her out sight, and away from the rear, where more attack may come.

Bertolt’s cutting insult gets the grick distracted as it peeks around Onyx- an unwise decision! Onyx’s blade comes crashing down, splitting it in nearly in half! Talion finishes it with a blast of energy - Dead!
the needle thing moves out of the alcove and shambles forward to G11. It hunches up as if to vomit, dry heaving in the stillness, a terrifying sound. It suddenly tenses and lets loose a volley of needles - 2 at Onyx and 2 at Bertolt behind him!
(( I'm not sure he can have an animal handling check AND an attack, but if so: ))
Animal Handling: 12
(( He will be happy if the dog just gets under cover somewhere! lol....Lucky Bear! ))
[in this case, you can and that's why I asked for one;)]
You sharply and urgently command the dog and she listens! Tail tucked between her legs she skitters over to you and places herself near the crypts, out of harm's way.
Sho squeezes past Talion and Erven to F9, where his eyes widened at the sight of the fleshy body of a … giant worm? Splayed in half and blasted crisp. He glances at Onyx, blood seeping out of his armor, the same moment the needle creature convulses and shudders, spitting out numerous tiny projectiles from its needle-y body. Sho sees he has no time to close the gap, he reaches out and points, a spectral hand forms behind and floats forward.
The skeletal hand has a difficult time attaching itself to the needle thing (want to roll nature to see if you know what it is?) and it can't find purchase - a miss!
As if all of this wasn't enough, you begin to hear sounds of chanting coming from somewhere deep in the cellar. It starts out first as a low, rhythmic thumping - whispers barely. It builds louder until it is echoing all around you. And then it stops. And then it begins again. At times it is punctuated by an agonized scream - a person (thing? entity?) in obvious pain...you cannot tell where it is coming from...it is most....unnerving.
As Bertold moves past him, and with Erven moving south and into the room, Talion sees a relatively clear path to the room. He moves to H9 then, having a relatively clear view of the creature, redirects his ire at it and once again launches a bolt of energy. After making his attack, he tries to make his way back to G7.

As Bertolt's bolt and Talion's energy blast strike the creature, it releases a agonized wail and hunches in on itself, like a circular shape. It shakes a little before exploding outward before you! 4 needles blast outwards!
Sho-1 Erven - 2 Onyx - 3 31. 1. 1
2 needles each are launched at both Sho and Erven! @Sho - Attack:19Damage:7 and Attack:9Damage:5
@Erven - Attack:8Damage:7 and Attack:23Damage:6
After this last reaction, the needle thing crumples and spreads itself on the floor, the only things remaining are some plant matter and slop.

Talion breathes a sigh of relief, then glances at Lucy Bear -- in part to check she hasn't become some unnatural horror, but mostly to see that she is safe. When he is assured of both, he moves forward and nods at Onyx's remark. "Perhaps someone a little more stealthy should lead the way down here." He looks at Erven then turns back to the warrior. "That was one nasty slug."
He examines the slug-thing a little more closely, prodding and moving it with a spectral hand. "Huh, not really what I expected." When he is satisfied, he offers to help Erven check the rest of the room. When he is sure it is safe, he does a more detailed inspection of the bodies and the room for hidden secrets.
Investigation: 23
Finally, he looks around at the group, "I think we should backtrack to those tombs...I think I saw the children's names there."
(I keep getting that.)
Attack: 17 Damage: 14
Another medical problem. Indefinite hiatus. Sorry, all.

Onyx, panting with exertion, leans against the table in this room, and uncorks his healing potion.
"That could have been worse, if that thing had attacked one of you in the hallways."
He guzzles the potion (9) to dull the pain and usea Lay on Hands (9) to close the worst of his wounds.
