Sensing the others are assessing Rose and Thorn, Erven tries to keep them talking, for more information and to distract them. "Who is Esme? And your mother, and your father, what are their names? Where are they, are they inside? Is the monster like a big wolf? What is it like?"

@Sho You think it's quite strange that the kids keep repeating the same thing over and over, and there is a robotic nature to their voices. Here and there you sense something off but it is neither evil nor malevolent in any way. Looking closely, you think they seem a bit fuzzy around the outsides and a couple times when you blink you find one or the other staring at you. Another blink and their not looking at you. It's disconcerting. @Bert No problem. You go over the incantation - it takes ten minutes. When you look at the kids, you see shimmers of green about them and you know they are illusions. Looking around, your eyes feel like someone is squeezing them in your fist, as there is so much pressure. You sense magic all around you yet it's difficult to pinpoint - you sense a heavy magic from the manor and something weird from the mists but it is not understood through your spell.
@Erven "Our mother and father," Rose answers you with a bit of trained haughtiness, "are Lord Gustav Durst and Lady Elizabeth Durst of Barovia. Esme is our nursemaid and nanny, she helped us and takes care of Walter..." Rose trails off and looks at the ground and Thorn begins singing again. She looks at you again, surprised to see you, continuing again, "Help, there is a monster in our house. Our brother Walter is still in there." Thorn chimes in, "Are mama and papa coming back? Do you think they've left us? We're not to peek, right Rose?" He looks at Rose and they both say together, "Else they'll dig our eyes out."
Erven turns to everyone and says “Right. I think that’s about all we will get out of this conversation.” He turns back to Rose and Thorn and says “Can you show us into the house, help us with where to begin to look? There are no monsters outside of the house, right?”

Talion glances up and down the path, looking for other buildings, then says "We should at least check the out-houses first...that building would unsettle me even without the monster."
"These children are illusions.... This entire place is filled with strange magic I cannot place. If we go forward then it is beyond a doubt some sort of trap or worse." Bertolt says as he steps away from the children.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Talion pulls back from the children at Bertolt's remark, staring at them intently.
(( Perception: 10, if it was insight then 2 less, and if Berthold's comment counts as help, another roll 11 ))
(( Guessing that is probably enough ))
He recoils in a mixture of annoyance and disgust. "So...a trap. But we already knew that."
Pausing, he looks for any other signs of life in the area, "If whoever controls them wants us in the building then we should definitely explore everywhere else first."
Onyx resists the urge to barrel into the house - illusion or no, the children seemed so real, so sorrowful.
"It would be a strange beast to try and deceive us with glamors that warn of its existence within the house. But it shouldn't hurt to check the outbuildings, I suppose."

Another medical problem. Indefinite hiatus. Sorry, all.
Erven turns to Rose and Thorn and says in a placating way “Thank you, we will sure try our best to help. Don’t want you “to get your eyes dug out.” He tries to mimic their voice with that portion. “If you can think of anything else to help us we are all ears....” He turns to the others. "Do you want to start on these buildings on the right?"
Sho Zuan was still watching the two children in front of him warily, his eyes catching a hint of incongruity, but too ambiguous that he has a hard time pinpoint exactly where, what is wrong - until Bertolt points out that the two are illusions. He immediately understood where the disharmony came from; illusions come from loss and separation, which, in its endless attempt to reconstruct the disintegrated and recapture what was lost, became divided from the linear reality.
"A despicable trap at that, using children...." Sho Zuan comments, he nods at Bertolt, grateful that he had figured out illusion when he was having trouble recognizing the deceit. "And a powerful one, too. The goal was most likely lure us into the basement - where the 'monsters' are kept."
Talion just looks at Sho Zhan for a moment at the mention on children, frowning slightly, but with an amused smile on his lips, then turns away to investigate the other buildings, pausing to make sure everyone is in agreement. Born to privilege, that one.

I am not sure what you're looking for. To you, the children are genuine and telling the truth, and they are not deceiving you. They believe there is a monster in the basement and they want you to kill it and save their brother.

Rose and Thorn turn to you and vacantly reply, "Thank you sir. We shall hope you don't have to bash our heads in as well. We're telling the truth, honest. There's a monster in there, and so is our brother. We hope you can help us."
You can go check out the buildings on the right side of the manor, but it turns up nothing. They've not seen a living soul in a long time. In the stables and the house, you can expect to find just about any mundane item that you could think of. There are no weapons or armor in the houses, however. [if you wish to see if an item is there, just let me know and I will tell you/make you roll for it].
As you exit the last building, you look towards the manor. Rose and Thorn are still there, looking terrified and glancing back at the house and then to the group of you.
Erven turns when they say that and the eye above his scar starts to twitch a little bit. “What did you just say? How do you know about that? Who are you, really? Why don’t you just come out here and talk to us in the open, instead of through these.... (points to Rose and Thorn) things?” Erven looks disgusted and frustrated, fearful of what lies ahead, and he covers it with anger. “Fine.” He holds his temper at bay, walks over to the group and says “To the Manor, I suppose.”

Bertolt keeps a watch on the children, his hand going for the dagger he had taken for himself, looking over towards the others. "It seems we are stuck here until we solve this.... Shall we go inside and fight this so called monster?"
He returns to the children, "I know you can't look at the monster, but can you tell me who -- or what -- else is in the house? What should we be careful of when we try to save ... Walter ... was it?"
Thorn looks at you, "Mama and papa locked it in the basement. I think it has many arms, and many eyes, and maybe is a dragon or a funny sheep and maybe -" Thorn is cut off by Rose, who elbows him slightly and shushes him. "We never saw it before, only it howling,"she says. "We won't go back in - maybe mama and papa are in there? Maybe Esme? And Walter is in there. Can you help him?"
Erven walks up to the front door, examines it, tests the knob, steps to the side and opens it, peering in. I won’t enter the house, just look in to see what I can see.
