Tier 1:
"Take any one item. We're well equipped." The room contains every item from Chapter 5 of the Player's Handbook weighing 70 pounds or less, armor of varying sizes, instruments, tool kits. There are also spell scrolls, every first level spell is present (as well as spell scrolls of a level for which a magic user of the characters new level would have slots for), and an encyclopedia of knowledge. Reading these books will grant you proficiency with any one of tool kit or any one language, depending which book you choose. The books are magically infused to allow easy retention, but the magic is lost once used.
Upper Tier:
The victor may choose an item from a magically infused chest that summons 10 randomly selected magic items to choose from (rarity determined by level). Alternatively they may exchange a magic item for another item of their choosing of the same rarity or lower, if the administrator has the requested item in his extensive collection. "You name it, we've probably got one somewhere."
To win this battle you'll... 4... Need to finish your opponents while you still can. At the end of every third round a monster will join the battle. End the fight before they whittle you down.
The time: 2.. Dusk. The failing light of the setting sun makes for long and deep shadows. Without Darkvision checks relying on sight suffer disadvantage.

The space of the battlefield is dominated by a massive glacier formed if rock and ice. Tall green grass grows in the soft soil around the glacier, but the brittle branches of some few sparce trees are weighed down by sheets of frost. On the glacier there are walls of windblown crystal ice spikes and a still frozen lake. Moving on the ice is difficult terrain and attempts to push or knock prone opponents on the ice will have an advantage, or saves against will have disadvantage.
Shmitty braces against the cold of the tundra-like arena. He looks out in awe of the beauty of ice like its the first time he's ever seen snow. He sees his breath on the wind and the bitterness of past failures slips away. *Click* he loads his crossbow and gets into position like a spider on a branch. HideStealth18
Nylah's turtle man makes his way into the arena once again, shivering at the icy temperatures. He gazes around at the crowd, crossbow in hand, awaiting the start of the next fight.
