Alton nods in agreement. “Yes. It’s probably best to leave this for now, and we can always stop by on the way back from Omu once we’ve hopefully destroyed this horrible curse.” He adds.
You decide to move along and ensure you are a very safe distance away from the wreck and make camp for the night. You notice that the gorillas do not follow you. We will say that on this day, there was really no time for foraging and/or the surroundings on this day just didn't seem to have any harvestable material.
DAY 27 - 8:30AM
The Chult map has been updated with previous day's travel.
Direction: Southwest, traveling in the lesser undead section on the map.
Speed: Fast (will earn 2 hexes)
Navigator: P'Lip
Encounter Checks: 3 / 92 / 5814 / 48
Everyone please use 1 insect salve if required.
Please make any survival checks if you will be foraging on this day, and let me know specifically what you might be looking for. Otherwise it will be random.
***streak continues. Will update map and next post ASAP.
Gotur, you were able to get in 4 hours of healing potion work.
DAY 28 - 8:30AM
The Chult map has been updated with previous day's travel.
Direction: South, staying in the lesser undead section on the map.
Speed: Fast (will earn 2 hexes)
Navigator: P'Lip
Encounter Checks: 20 / 4517 / 10017 / 48
Everyone please use 1 insect salve if required.
Please make any survival checks if you will be foraging on this day, and let me know specifically what you might be looking for. Otherwise it will be random.
*And with that, the streak ends. Ok, there potentially could be lots of action today. I have to look into the results but will post first encounter ASAP. It happens in the morning, maybe an hour into travel...
In the morning, P'Lip, who is likely familiar with these plants, notices 2 zabou growing on a dead tree.
Zabou mushrooms feed on offal and the rotting wood of dead trees. If handled carefully, a zabou can be picked or uprooted without causing it to release its spores. If crushed or struck, a zabou releases its spores in a 10-foot-radius sphere. A zabou can also be hurled up to 30 feet away or dropped like a grenade, releasing its cloud of spores on impact. Any creature in that area must succeed on a DC 10 Constitution saving throw or be poisoned for 1 minute. The poisoned creature’s skin itches for the duration. The creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
I would say that either of the guides, Gotur or P'Lip could harvest these without any issue if the party wants them. There seems to be no roll that is required for harvesting.
That is it for encounter 1.
Stay tuned for encounter 2 which happens around 2:30 in the afternoon, in-game time.
Gotur would certainly help Phillip harvest them, he does have a longer reach, after all. He'd suggest that Eku carry at least one of them, or at least makes the suggestion of an aerial deployment if we want to have Phillip handle them for the time being.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
DM:Forged in Chaos, Spiders of the Abyss, The Sundered Way, Champions of the Citadel
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
For the past number of days, you've only seen the usual jungle dwellers including monkeys, numerous species of birds, rodents, insects and other smaller mammals.
On this day though, P'Lip spots something that the party hasn't seen yet during the travel. 9 of the creatures shown below and on the bestiary tab are up in a wukka tree. They seem to be eating the nuts from the tree. They notice you all as the party gets closer to the tree that they are in and they all start to growl and bear their teeth at you. They are at different heights in the tree, ranging from 10ft to 25ft.
P'Lip, Azaka and Eku are familiar with these creatures, however in this moment they would only get to tell you very limited information before the creatures get even more irritated that you have walked close to the tree that they are in. Since you were travelling at the fast speed, you didn't see them until you were basically right under them and heard them growling.
Azaka says "Zorbos. Dangerous nasty little critters."
Eku interrupts with a grunt "Dangerous, yes. Nasty? No. These are beautiful creatures who's home we have seem to invaded."
*clunk* a wukka nut drops to the ground. The creatures start growling and hissing more at the party. They are REALLY getting mad now.
P'Lip, you know that these creatures, albeit quite cute and resembling a large koala, have some type of magical energy entwined in their genetics which make them formidable foes which you would've told the party in this moment. You aren't sure of specifics as you've never had to fight one of them before.
Eku and Azaka also aren't sure of their specific abilities, although they would've both agreed that they have magical energies, specifically the ability to absorb energy from their surroundings. They aren't certain if they possess any other magical abilities.
Zorbo. :)
So, you can either remain here and essentially assume combat is starting because these creatures are very upset at your presence, or leave now and they will not bother to follow you.
This tree is chock-full of wukka nuts which the guides and/or P'Lip would've told you about during the travels.
These fist-sized nuts grow on wukka trees. A wukka nut rattles when shaken, causing its shell to shed bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet. This magical light fades after 1 minute, but shaking the nut again causes the light to reappear. If the shell of the nut is cracked open, it loses its magic.
You'd be able to gather a ton of them should these creatures be... exterminated.
There also seems to be some type of wooden box or crate that is half buried at the base of the tree which you would also be able to investigate further should you eliminate the threat.
Eku wants to leave, and isn't keen on attacking these creatures since this is their home, but she will do what the party decides if that is their desire.
Azaka says nothing. Inside though, she kind of has a desire to do some hunting. Considering there's been no encounters for such a long time. She's hunted these before. Killed one, even. She is a weretiger, after all.
What will everyone decide? Happy to answer any questions before decisions are made. I will create the battlemap if needed.
I will also add this encounter to the map either way as a "z".
* forgot to mention - added the mushroom to Eku's inventory on her page! She smiles and likes the idea of dropping them like a bomb while flying.
((OOC: would Phillip have any idea of whether the party are hopelessly outnumbered? He’s leaning towards leave, since it’s their home, but this may inform how urgently he encourages that!
Also, how close is the nut they threw? Could someone grab it as part of a retreat, or is that likely to start a fight?))
P'Lip, from your limited specific knowledge about the creatures, you'd assume that the party will not be hopelessly outnumbered here, although you aren't 100% sure if the guides will have complete resistance to them as you aren't certain of all of their abilities.
The nut was not thrown, it just dropped. The party could for sure get it and then retreat without a fight. But just the one. It's at the base of the tree, and the party is around 10-15 feet away.

Gotur is Phillip’s harvesting buddy, so he’d call him over and likely harvest the mushrooms with his help and guidance...
((Phillip would like to hold on to one of them, but he’s happy to share our the other two…
Or if no one wants one, he can hold them all, since he’s immune to the poison condition. He’s chilled out about it either way)).
