Alton, you aren't sure if Orvex might know how to use a blade. You trust him and all, but whether he can actually use a weapon to defend himself is TBD.
Gotur, Orvex responds "I mean... they could've been evildoers, no? The people they ambushed? Maybe the Wizards were actually doing a good thing with their ambushes? Anyhow, I never asked any questions. Wasn't my business. Anyhow, it matters not now. I'm with you all now. Should we meet my former colleagues, then we can discuss things at that time. Maybe we can ask them about that as well."
Eku is about to say something but she holds her tongue.
"Thank you, again. Thank all of you."Orvex says. He continues "and yes, I agree with Evo here. The shrine to the west was the one that we were going to investigate first before the Yuan-Ti attacked us."
"Oh, do any of you have any spare arms I could use? I'm skilled with small swords and blades, and I might not look like much, but I can handle myself in a fight should it come down to it."
Eku makes a funny noise with her mouth and then rolls her eyes.
She eventually responds to Evo. "Aye. We shall investigate the west shrine first."
DAY 34 - 10:30AM
Ok, should there not be any objections, the party will head to the shrine to the west first. (#1 on the 'Omu Master' map)
A rectangular pool of murky water stretches before this vine-draped shrine. Rope bridges that once spanned the water float on the surface, tangled with other debris. The shards of a toppled monolith form stepping stones to the middle of the pool, where a statue of a stone frog rises above the water.
I have added a map of the shrine grounds to the new '#1' tab.
The shrine itself is blacked out, but everything else as you can see is uncovered.
Please let me know what part of the map your character would want to start at and/or where you want to investigate or check out first. After that, I will add your icon to the map as well as describe what you see along with requesting any rolls as applicable.
Orvex would say "Hmmmm... this has got to be the shrine to the trickster god Kubazan, who was represented as a froghemoth."
Over to you!
*OH - as you guys retrieve the puzzle cubes, I will check them off on the 'Omu Master' tab. Thanks!
I will get the result of that nature check tomorrow, but in the meantime, Gotur (and anyone else who would decide to look at the pool) please roll a perception check.
(I think I will start to use spoilers again for successful checks depending on who succeeds, in both games FYI. Makes for better RP!)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Phillip hands Orvex a dagger, saying “Don’t make me regret… yep!… giving you this. Uh huh, uh huh… Hmm?…”.
Then he takes a good look at the pool of water alongside his friends…
Perception check:
Active check: 15
Passive: 15
If he doesn’t immediately see anything too worrying, like Mister E’vo, he would start to consider whether the party could go around the pool or if they need to find a way over it…
Phillip will also quickly cast light on a copper piece, make a quick wish, and throw it into the centre of the pool (hoping it would allow him and others to see better into the water, and also maybe gauge the depth of the pool, or if the coin sinks or settles anywhere).
((20ft radius bright light then 20ft dim. The light lasts for one hour))
Gotur, you assume like Evo does that given the name, froghemoths are some type of huge frog. Orvex agrees. "Yes. Big frogs, but worse. Huge things. I mean, I've never actually SEEN one before, but the legend and imagery that I've seen is pretty clear."
Orvex takes the dagger from Phillip and says in common to everyone "Thank you, Phillip. Not to worry, you can trust me."
Ok, before I process the perception checks for the pool (I am only using the active checks in this particular case) as well as Phillip's light spell on the copper piece, I wanted to clarify Rod's question.
You can absolutely just go around the water part and walk along the wall south of the shrine. If you check out the shrine, there's even those holes in the walls to the east, north and west so you wouldn't have to even bother with the water pool to investigate the shrine 'doors', should you not want to.
Apologies, I should've made that more clear!
So - with that said, let me know if there's something else you might want to do, and if not, I will proceed with the perception checks that you've all rolled along with Phillip's light spell and copper piece chuck etc.
Thanks!
* like the map isn't the bounds of the area in this case - the broader Omu map helps to show that.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ok, I've added everyone to the map. Alton, I have you making a wide pass around the pool, similar to what Azaka is doing but just on the other side. Evo I have you to the left of the pillars. Let me know if any of these are incorrect and I'll be happy to move them.
Gotur, Evo and Phillip take a closer look at the pool.
This pool looks to be about 10 feet deep everywhere, give or take a few feet, and clouded with mud and algae. It also has numerous lily pads and other vegetation and debris scattered about.
The shattered monolith looks slippery with moss, and the rotted rope bridges look in rough shape.
Azaka isn't actively looking at the pool, she was looking forward at the shrine entrance as that's where she was headed, and Eku also isn't rolling the perception check either as she's watching what Phillip is doing with the copper piece.
Phillip then proceeds to light up the piece of copper, make his wish ((please let me know what it is!)), and then toss the lit copper piece into the water. It lands in front of the frog statue and the murky pool is lit up around the copper piece as it sinks.
Everyone, please roll for initiative. Once you confirm I have all of the icons correct on the map which has been updated, I will give you more information about what is going on.

To Azaka he shrugs and says,

To Gotur's comment,
"Pretty objectively bad in fact."
He, not having any good ideas suggests randomly,
"Maybe we try the shrine to the west first?"
"Suppose that sounds good as any."
((If they hadn't during downtime last night, Gotur and the scouts would have filled the others in on the shrines that they saw.))

I think, did you want locations too? Phillip will be stood just south of the pool in the very centre. Within 5ft of the pool)).

Orvex will be near Gotur and/or Evo
Azaka is likely scouting wide around the pool, human form
Eku is also in human form, taking interest in the pool with Phillip
Gotur south of and centered between the two posts/pillars.
