*OOC: I've been meaning to ask about making rolls: do you want us to use the forum dice roller, or can we use the digital dice and the game log, and report rolls here for so Halfastbracegirdle can see them? I've never used the forum dice roller, so my preference is the digital dice, but I can certainly learn to use the forum roller if that's better.
OOC: Let's use the forum dice roller as it's right here for when you post.
It is the little d6 icon up there on the right ^^
When you click it, it gives you three tabs - basic, combat, and ability scores. Hopefully we will not need the ability scores roller again.
It's pretty self explanatory except for combat, you have to plug in 1d8 or whatever it is your damage dice will be. Your attack modifier is your to-hit bonus and your damage modifier is your bonus damage from STR or DEX or whatever. You'll see the numbers next to your actions on your character sheet.

"Sooner or later, your Players are going to smash your railroad into a sandbox."
-Vedexent
"real life is a super high CR."
-OboeLauren
"............anybody got any potatoes? We could drop a potato in each hole an' see which ones get viciously mauled by horrible monsters?"
Your mount nudges you with its beak trying to coax last minute neck scratchings before you leave. Making your way around the edges of the mud and slime you then head in to the swamp outside line of sight of the figures.
The sucking muck and fetid water make progress very slow. You didn't need to disguise yourselves as everyone is covered with smelly droplets in no time.
Toots drops out of slght when she steps into a sinkhole. You can only see her scrabbling hand waving frantically!
Everybody roll a Dex check to see if you can grab her (1d20 + dex modifier).

Somewhere within 100' ahead Tommary looks over his shoulder at the sinkhole dilemma. He keeps his eye split between the struggle and the path ahead, and makes a note to move with even smaller steps so the rest of the party can literally walk in his footsteps.
*If no one can help Toot, Tommary will dash from his concealment and rolls a 16 on a straight DEX check. If reaching isn't working, I'll offer to roll a 17 on survival to develop some sort of humanoid chain or vegetation tether to extract him, again only making this move if the party's at a loss.
*OOC: won't be on again till this evening but didn't want to stall the game, so consider this a held action used if the rest of the party is at a loss.

Jander Sunstar is the thinking person's Drizzt, fight me.
guidance to give Tommary and extra d4 and next check to help Toots.
OOC: You rolled a 6 for Taslyn. Everyone has rolled except Hawksley and Tana. I’m sorry, I’m just a little impatient to find out what’s about to happen to my PC. 😜
I'll do my cunning action dash if necessary, or ordinary movement or skulk at half movement if those are feasible and led my hand or 100 feet of rope (I bought two 50' and traded it for 100') to contributed to the rescue.

(OOC Sorry I'm taking so long- busy with work, should have some time to post later this evening)
OOC: Don’t feel bad. It’s just part of PbP. It is what it is, there really is no way around it. (I wouldn’t be nearly so impatient if it were Hawksley in the hole. 😜)
*Toots spits profusely, unsettled by the taste that just entered her mouth. She profoundly wishes she had learned a spell for occasions like this, and silently vows to next chance she gets!*
Taslyn's armor is very scuffed and covered in grime. there's even dirt in her hair, and on her skin.
"no no no. don't get that cleaning magic near me."

Grab, not trap. Don’t want to edit for fear of getting a warning about the dice roll being manipulated.
