Is there a section in character creation for adding the new Dark Gifts from Van Richten's? Can't seem to find it. Found the new races under lineages but can't find the dark gifts.
Thanks in advance!
edit: thanks for the responses, looks like they are planning to implement it this year.
We don't currently have a way to model supernatural gifts, charms, blessings & boons.
We understand that Dark Gifts are an important part of the Domains of Dread and that our community is keen to be able to use them on their D&D Beyond characters.
We fully plan to support these (this year) with the Features System, but unfortunately this will not be in place for the launch of this sourcebook.
Usually, DDB releases content that is a chance to the character sheet in waves and not necessarily right when a book is released so I would give it a little time.
As for where for now, just drop it in the notes section as a placeholder
Supernatural Gifts. Piety. So they say, its been almost a year since this has been roadmapped. You telling me they couldn't figure this out in a year?
On the roadmap doesn't mean they were working on it. I think most missing character sheet features are planned (well, as a goal) for this year. And some of it has started being worked on.
What i did for my group Dark Gifts when they where in the Amber temple.
Is to make an Homebrew ring item, that requires no attunement
With the description of what the Dark Gift does, and if the Gifts are spells, then adding the spell to the item with the appropriate restrictions/way of use, like any other magic item that gives acces to spells etc.
This adds the spells to their list( one cast/charge per LR etc) and allows them to easely keep track of it.

Supernatural Gifts. Piety. So they say, its been almost a year since this has been roadmapped. You telling me they couldn't figure this out in a year?
Much of that year was spent doing massive systemwide overhauls and updates that were prerequisite to adding stuff like Piety, Supernatural Gifts, Dark Gifts, and other Boons. The old system couldn’t handle that stuff, so before that could program them they needed to implement a new system that could actually do the thing.

I was using roadmap as they use the term. I was using it as a general term to indicate that Tasha's is nearly a year old. If you're going to sell the books near to full price to unlock and then take a year or so to implement, you're going to have dissatisfied clientele. And that's in any market.

This is one of those, is it eventually going to come out? Probably. Will we be another two books deep before it does? Likely. It's a good thing most markets don't run on this business model.
Imagine waiting a month for internet to come out and fix a downed line because the parent company changed their infrastructure, all the while charging you full price.
Imagine waiting three hours for lunch because a restaurant decided to install a new stove mid business.
Different concepts, different businesses. Apply the same business model and suddenly it's not so acceptable is it?

I have spent almost 20 years off and on in the restaurant business, both front and back of house, both as employee and as management. I can tell you for a fact that whenever anything gets repaired or maintenanced in a restaurant, it’s always during business hours. Yes, occasionally we would have to explain to customers that the gas/refrig/plumbing/equipment repair/whatever people were in doing a thing and the should anticipate slower than normal service at that time. We did it as soon as they asked for a table so they could make the right decision for them at that time as to whether they wanted to stay or dine elsewhere. As a member of staff I didn’t want to have to deal with POed customers taking frustrations out on me when they were caused by something out of my control. As a member of management I preferred to loose one sale of one meal to each of those customers that one day (and the customer thanking my employees for their forthright disclosure), than to loose every sale to each of them forever, and all of the people they would inevitably tell about the slow service.
Have you never been in a mall or store during remodeling? You know, the light fixtures have wires hanging from them and there’s holes in the sheet rock and things are partitioned off with plastic tarps and signs all around saying “please forgive our appearance during this remodel.” Have you seriously never experienced that situation before?
Has a storm never knocked out your power/phone/cable and because it knocked out everybody’s it took 3 days to get fixed? Heck, I’m turning 40 this year, that must have happened to either me or someone else that I know at least 1ce every two years on average. Heck, just last year there was a major water main break in my neighborhood, everyone in three townships was on a “Boil Water” advisory for about a week. (And I live in a densely populated “suburban” area. (It’s genuinely urban, just not technically. 🙄) Really? Never happened to you?!?
I guess wherever you live, “they don’t need roads.” 😎 ‘Round my neck of the woods, when it comes to roadwork, it could be anywhere between 1-3 months between when they put up the signs to shift traffic patterns and when they actually start scraping the top layers off. After that it could be anywhere between 6-18 more months until they botch painting the lines on top of the new macadam.
I guess your cable installers always show up between the hours of X and Y just like they promise too, hunh? (Whenever they tell me “between X and Y” I always automatically adjust that to “between y and Y+3 hours, and then I wait to see how much later than that they’re gonna be. 😒)
Your Doctor isn’t always between 15-30 minutes behind schedule for your checkups?!? They must not have very many patients then. (Either nobody in your town gets sick, or your town needs a new Doctor. Ne?)
If you have genuinely never had any of ☝️ those experiences 👆, or any other experiences that are in anyway similar, then you must be one of those Variant Humans that got born with the Lucky feat.
The vast majority of these supernatural/dark/pious/whatever Boons can be fakeD as Feats, and the ones that can’t can get tacked onto a customized version of a character’s background or race instead. So far I have personally only done the “Hollow One,” “Hero Points,” and a reasonably functional convenience havk for Sanity and Madness. But friends, acquaintances, heck even random strangers PM me from time to time asking how to homebrew stuff. So I know I have helped some folks make stuff from Theros too, like the Iconoclast as an example. (Imagine if Verizon had a station on every street corner that contained tools and materials with a sign saying “sorry, if you can’t wait for us, here’s how to hone brew a workaround for yourself in the meantime.”)
When Disneyland opened in 1955 there were only 20 attractions, and a plumbers’ strike meant that they could have functional drinking fountains, OR functional toilets, but not both. Here is the current list of attractions: https://disneyland.disney.go.com/attractions/ 🤔 1955-2021…. Naahhh, that didn’t take them long at all…. 🤨

Can you show an example of this? I searched the homebrews for some but only found 2 of the Dark Gifts. Specifically looking for Touch of Death
OK. Van Richen's Guide is out now. Is there a way to add Dark Gifts on to the DNDBeyond character sheets yet?
Not as such, no. They can be replicated as homebrewed feats currently, that’s what we got for the time being. I know the Devs are working on a general “Boons” type section which could theoretically accommodate Dark Gifts, as well as Epic Boons from the DMG, and Supernatural Gifts from MOoT. Hopefully it will be part of the upcoming System Features Update expected later this year or early next. (No promises though.)
There are so many missing features. It's unbelievably slow. I'm starting to regret investing in this ecosystem....they are very lucky that they're the only game in town that is this integrated, otherwise, I'd take my business elsewhere.

Supernatural gifts are a planned feature.
Are the backgrounds going to be added in a later update too?
No, because they are already added.

Hey folks! Is there a way to add Iconoclast to our character sheets yet?
Or do we still need to homebrew a feat?
