What is the best use of a non-magic item you've ever seen or done? What non-magical items are commonly overlooked or underrated because they are non-magical in nature? Are there any sort of in-game life hacks to be used with non-magical items or some combination of them?
Look at what you've done. You spoiled it. You have nobody to blame but yourself. Go sit and think about your actions.

This.👆It’s one of the most useful items in the PHB and it’s super underrated.
And absolutely every single one of my PCs always carries a small knife and some string. I mean, think of all the reasons to carry them IRL, and then multiply that by 100 because adventurers get into some 💩. Definitely two items every PC should carry.
Also super useful and highly underrated are the following items:
Iron spikes. They can be used to hold things open or closed, and that’s just the start. Need a fixed point? Hammer in an iron spike. Need to scratch out something on a wall without dulling your knife? Iron spike. Tons of other uses too.
[Ball Bearings. Forget the nigh useless DC 10 prone thing, as I said, it’s nigh useless. But using them for other reasons can be super useful. From planting an object you can track with locate object, to using them as a distraction, to using them in a trap… these are possibly one of the most useful items in the PHB.
[Steel mirror. Being able to see behind yourself or around corners…. C’mon, who can’t think of ways that’s useful?
Signal whistle. These can be super useful in a lot of circumstances. Being able to let out a sharp noise that can be heard from a good way off as a signal, distraction, or bait can come in handy quite often.
Fishing tackle. I mean, just look at the list of what all it includes: “wooden rod, silken line, corkwood bobbers, steel hooks, lead sinkers, velvet lures, and narrow netting.” Every single thing on that list is useful for a multitude of things.
Iron pot, shovel, miner’s pick. You would be surprised how useful these can potentially be under certain circumstances.
the 10' pole is one of those things in the game that just make no sense. like how does someone run around doing the things we think of as adventuring - running, climbing, fighting, going through doors, avoiding traps, etc... - with a 10' object strapped to them somewhere. i mean, the game also allows people to do all that stuff 150 pounds of gear strapped to them with no problem, but something tells me the people who designed these things never touched a 10' pole and never lifted 150 pounds, much less strapped it to their back and ran around with it.

It's about the same length as a lance.
It can be carried in a bag of holding with no issue, and the pole could be made collapsible, like those portable pool cues, or like modern camping poles.

10 foot pole. Need I say more?

There are lots of threads like this on the internet, but some reliable go-to options are:
Arrows. Cast light on them and fire them down dark hallways if you are worried about something beyond the limits of your vision.
Ball Bearings. You can roll them down pathways to check for some traps, or leave a trail to avoid getting lost. DC10 Prone effect (trivial).
Eggshells filled with flour. Convenient way to make an invisible target visible.
Mirror. See around corners, petrify a medusa.
Fishing hook and line. Lots of uses.
Dreamlily. Basically Death Ward for 1 hour in exchange for being poisoned. (Potentially abuseable. 1gp)
Piton. Great for helping party members get past pits, so long as at least one member can get themself across.
You can do a lot with mundane items, but using them cleverly can often be time consuming, and they will become irrelevant very quickly.
