I really hope so. Im playing the new Ranger UA class variant since January. I keep checking for updates hoping they release this UA before my campaign ends.
Yea I’m starting to lose hope

Here is the latest update specifically listing it as something they are currently working on:
As far as I can tell they've started the work of coding on it- planning meetings and such were 2-3 weeks ago (?) and it's been a part of their active development sprint since about then!
When it’s ready. I think it’s like a cake, or good BBQ, it’s done when it’s done. Or like a Wizard, “An [update] is never late, it arrives precisely when it means to.”

Sure, but that doesn't actually mean anything. It could come out tomorrow or three months from now, or still never because it turns out some element still isn't working right, and it appears that they absolutely will not implement something until every single aspect works right. Which is laudable on a certain level, but only equally after a certain point, it seems like they should just implement what they definitely can implement (spells, fighting styles, simple additions to class features), and have the rest of the update wait. I feel like that point passed several months ago.
To be honest I suspect we are looking at more like three months than three days or three weeks. I hope I'm wrong.
I'm slightly concerned that the "update" makes no mention of the Dragonmarks....
What do you mean?
They still don't work in the character builder, providing the racial expanded spell list. The reason given as to why they were not yet fixed is because it was dependent on the same work being done to make the Variant Class Features work. In other words, some of us are still waiting to make use of content we paid for, and for some reason nobody thinks it's a good idea to, you know, mention that.

If this were true, we wouldn't have life clerics, rangers of level 6 or higher, or a number of other things. A lot of which (including this) couldn't be done until they finished revamping the backend code. It's not that they were waiting until they have everything coded perfectly. They were waiting for the new foundation to be finished being built before they could build anything on top of it.
Yeah, okay. I underestimated the timetable on this one. Most of everything else I said stood, though. I simply wasn't aware of how deep the problem ran.
Adam Bradford has explicitly confirmed that the code is being written, they're in an execution sprint phase now. I make no guess as to timetable, but like he told me himself right here a couple of months ago, they've learned their lesson on transparency with issues like this. The last few Weekly Dev Updates have hit on class feature variants. Does it suck that they took so long? Totally. But I get it. So hey. We'll all enjoy when they do finally drop, ne? Especially now that DDB's gone through this huge push, which all but confirms that Wizards has in turn told them that developing these tools will be required for future content.
I.e. we know pretty much for sure that we'll be getting official Class Feature Variants sometime in the future, because one of the prerequisites for DDB putting this much effort into UA is Wizards telling them "Yeah, you're gonna need this to work right later". So maybe a little positive note there?
One thing i do want to say can we as a community NOT contribute to "Crunch Time" or whatever you want to call it. Coding and software development and writing takes time. it is not a simple process.
Let's make sure we are giving people the time they need to make these things without burning out their staff.

The main problem is they keep mentioning the UA but no mention of the Spells of the Mark feature which is frustrating to me.
Paid content should have the priority over UA and if the UA is rolled out before they fix Spells of the Mark I am going to be very angry.

What does that actually mean though? I've been told specifically that it's meaningless. That it could mean 2 weeks or 2 years.

Yeah, but when's it gonna come out?

Heh, I was being facetious. I honestly don't expect it to be out for at least a couple months.
I’m talking about cakes and BBQ, and quoting LotR. I picked up what you were putting down.

I mean, you can never go wrong with that combination. The real question is, should that be for luncheon, elevenses, or second breakfast?
You choose. And you can keep the cake, I want pie.

What we mean is, "Not tomorrow, but closer to a year from now."
