So i have a question about the item you animate with the 6th level feature of this class. The stat block lists the item's speed as 40ft which is fine but it doesnt clarify how the object might move if it doesnt have legs, or wheels. Other effects in the game such as the animate object spell provide an explanation on the mobility of non-ambulatory objects, such as a dagger.
"An animated object is a construct with AC, hit points, attacks, Strength, and Dexterity determined by its size. Its Constitution is 10 and its Intelligence and Wisdom are 3, and its Charisma is 1. Its speed is 30 feet; if the object lacks legs or other appendages it can use for locomotion, it instead has a flying speed of 30 feet and can hover. If the object is securely attached to a surface or a larger object, such as a chain bolted to a wall, its speed is 0."
so if this feature just works on anything large or smaller, is it assumed that the object can dance around like an object from Fantasia or does it need to have some believable form of motion, like a chair with legs. Can I animate a box, or have a chunk of wall break out and look like a rock golem and it still move.
I guess the hang up here is that you cant create your own objects to animate until level 14 so it'd make sense to carry something you'd animate frequently like a dagger. But without a flying or hover speed, then mechanically does it just flop around across the floor at 40ft per turn like Thing from Adam's Family?
I know its probably assumed that it hovers but some DM's are pretty restrictive and some clarification here could help people.
I'm way late to this but currently playing a Creation Bard that just hit lvl 6. Are you not able to use Performance of Creation and then Animating performance to create an item and then animate it?

The exact form of locomotion is up to the player to fit your imagination, but I believe it is assumed that they dance around like in Fantasia.
