How would I incorporate an Earth Genasi into Dragon lance lore? I would like the player to have a unique character ie. not a bunch of Genasi running around but a strange and mysterious character for us to tell some great stories with/about.
Any ideas on how to weave it into the Dragonlance mythos ?
Maybe a relatively simple "flat" origin (meaning there's not going to be a deep back story available). Krynn has relatively recently suffered the Cataclysm. This Genasi emerged from whichever body of water is geographically convenient to the campaign as a byproduct of that Cataclysm. That could mean they emerged when the Cataclysm occurred, which would mean they may be like a century or so old if I remember right. Or they showed up more recently, within a human adult lifespan, but the community they encountered associated them with the Cataclysm (because how else would they explain it?).
The "Water One" or "The One of the Waters" adopted or was adopted by a community, picked up Common there etc., maybe even learned a trade so they could have a conventional background but a mysterious origin. Nobody including the Genasi themself can explain what they came from or what they are, just that they are. Maybe as your game develops you could revisit the origin (there's at least one Sea Elf enclave in Krynn and there are some odd magical phenomena in the seas), but there's always room for "a mysterious stranger/alien" in a party.
As a DM that's all I'd really need to get them into the world.

One problem with that midnite - they were asking for an Earth Genasai not a water. Still it’s fairly easy now to get them there - the lone survivor of a crashed spelljammer ( or one nearly destroyed in Krynnspace that then landed near shore and broke up with the Genasai again being the lone survivor. If you really want a mystery they were injured in the crash and have amnesia so they don’t even know who they are or how they got there.. if they are starting at L1 they spend most of L1 just figuring out what they can actually do.
(bumping this because it's literally only thread on the first page that's not about... y'know, that)
Stripping everything else away, a genasi is basically just a humanoid with strong ties to a specific element. As MP suggested, who knows what sorts of strange magicks could be swirling around Krynn in the wake of the Cataclysm, giving rise to new creatures? Your "genasi" player could be born of human (or whatever) parents, but for some reason (insert backstory thingie here) has earth powers
Alternately, as they're specifically leaning earth genasi, they could be from an actual genasi civilization that's lived deep under the surface of Krynn for generations, happily undiscovered by the surface world (maybe known to the dwarves only as a rumor) or even not being aware there was a surface world... until the Cataclysm struck, and tore holes in the world that their people are only now beginning to explore. Imagine being the Uncle Traveling Matt of the earth genasi!

Here's what the DL book itself has to say about exotic races:
PEOPLE FROM BEYOND
Peoples who aren’t native to the world still might find their way to Krynn. It’s possible to find individual members—or even small enclaves—of folk like dragonborn, halflings, tieflings, or any other race in Ansalon. Perhaps such individuals stepped through a portal and found themselves on Krynn, or traded with one of Krynn’s great empires before the Cataclysm. Use such possibilities to play characters of any race you please in your adventures across Krynn.
Underline mine; if "your genasi stepped/fell through a portal one day, isekai" isn't adequate, the second part - that you descended from one of the very high-magic empires that predated the Cataclysm back when those nations had sufficient power to reach across the multiverse - should work. Pre-Cataclysm Krynn had several to choose from, e.g. Ergoth, Istar, ancient Silvanesti etc., most of which had very powerful spellcasters. Any non-Krynn race could be a descendant of emissaries, traders, or slaves from other worlds that those Empires came into contact with.
Alternatively, for planetouched in particular, you or your lineage could originate from the Cataclysm itself. The exact mechanics of the gods' destruction of Krynn are to a degree left open to imagination; perhaps Genasi resulted, in part, from that explosive collision of material and magic, whereby the Inner and Outer Planes themselves were hurled at the Material, resulting in magical commingling, radiation and other phenomena that ended up creating such races.
TL;DR Genasi could be found on Krynn either thanks to the Cataclysm or to the high-magic events preceding it. Work with your DM but there's plenty of reason for them to say yes.

Lol, you're right, not sure what switch the element in my brain, and evidently I even converted the OP. Still can work just with more geographic possibilities. What form did the Cataclysm come in? A flaming mountain. So to rewrite
Maybe a relatively simple "flat" origin (meaning there's not going to be a deep back story available). Krynn has relatively recently suffered the Cataclysm. This Genasi emerged from whichever pile of rock or earthen hole that is geographically convenient to the campaign as a byproduct of that Cataclysm. That could mean they emerged when the Cataclysm occurred, which would mean they may be like a century or so old if I remember right. Or they showed up more recently, within a human adult lifespan, but the community they encountered associated them with the Cataclysm (because how else would they explain it?).
The "Stone One" or "The One of the Earths" adopted or was adopted by a community, picked up Common there etc., maybe even learned a trade so they could have a conventional background but a mysterious origin. Nobody including the Genasi themself can explain what they came from or what they are, just that they are. Maybe as your game develops you could revisit the origin (there are dwarves with lore of deep Krynn and who knows how deep fragments of the Cataclysmic mountain penetrated), but there's always room for "a mysterious stranger/alien" in a party.
EDIT: I mean you could also build a "special purpose with amnesia" in your Genasi too. The original trilogy novels/adventure cycle had The Green Gemstone man whose origins were inexplicable, significance was unclear, but both were eventually uncovered. Basically the Genesis is "here now." And since we're using earth it's more apt to say the past can be "excavated" as opposed to dived into when the game's ready.
Earth elemental or Earth Djinn was magically imprisoned for millennia until the cataclysm shattered his prison. You are the son or grandson of that elemental.
I'm not sure if it is still cannon but there was a series of novels called "The Chaos War" set after the War of the Lance, where all sorts of weird things happened, (link to wiki here: https://dragonlance.fandom.com/wiki/Chaos_War#Chaos's_Forces).
So you could always have your genasi be a scout (even unknowling) for Chaos, he's blipped into being on Krynn and wanders around gathering information.
Some genasi are born of mortal–genie unions, others have two genasi as parents, and a rare few have a genie further up their family tree, manifesting an elemental heritage that’s lain dormant for generations.
Occasionally, genasi result from exposure to a surge of elemental power, through phenomena such as an eruption from the Inner Planes or a planar convergence. Elemental energy saturates any creatures in the area and might alter their nature enough that their offspring with other mortals are born as genasi.
And:
As rare beings, genasi might go their entire lives without encountering another one of their kind. There are no great genasi cities or empires. Genasi seldom have communities of their own and typically adopt the cultures and societies into which they are born. The more strange their appearance, the harder time they have. Many genasi lose themselves in teeming cities, where their distinctiveness hardly raises an eyebrow in places accustomed to a variety of different people.
So you could come up with a number of reasons for this PC to be there and be a rare individual.
Tiamat has not only waged war on Krynn - but on all the planes as well. You've learned of something happening on this realm of Kyrnn where people are gathering to battle Tiamat and her army - and the Earth Genasi (and other Genasi) trying to figure out what to do - are all locked up in deadlock in council - fearful of Tiamat's direct wrath. So you have found a means to portal to Krynn - and see what can be done - and join the forces to battle Tiamat and send her back to Hades.
