I have 9th level Legacy Monk. Way of the Ascendant Dragon if that matters.
For some unknown reason, my dagger is showing up as a 1d8. I know that I substitute my Martial Arts die, but at 9th level, that's only a d6. When I look at it in the Add Inventory, it happily shows 1d4. The moment I add it to my Equipment, 1d8.
I have unattuned to everything, just in case my weird homebrewed magic item interferes with anything.
I can't find anything anywhere to cause this to bump.
It isn't just the dagger, but all monk weapons (including unarmed strikes). They are using the 2024 Monk Martial Arts die progression table instead of the 2014. It is definitely a bug.
Sorry for the lack of clarity. I meant that the system is using the 2024 dice progression even on 2014 base monks. That is what is reflected on my own Ascendant Dragon monk anyway, which also is using 2014 base monk and is showing the 2024 monk die progression.

Its less of a bug and more of one of those things WotC wasn't planning on implementing to begin with as the entire u.i. was supposed to go to 2024

Maybe. I don't know if that is true though because they had been saying for months that the intention was that people who wanted to play 2014 would still have this ability to do so. It does sound reasonable that in the scramble to shift gears around magic items and spells, which were planned to be overwritten, that something got fumbled along the way regarding base class differences.

Yeah... When the spells, tooltips, feats, exhaustion rules and equipment were all going to go to 2024 versions im sure that monk damage was one of those things they were planning to just implement.

Again, we were told that the intention was to have players who wanted to play 2014 PCs be able to play at 2024 tables. Mechanical rules and tooltips may have been planning to change, but that was not the communicated plan for PCs.
I am detecting a bit of motivated reasoning in this response, so I guess my question now is what is your goal here? To sow chaos? To make other players feel anxiety, alarm, and anger? What benefit does that hold for you?

Any ideas?
No idea it's likely a bug as it should be 1d6.
Well, seems to be a screwup with the upgrade, and my Legacy Monk is having the 2024 Monk Table's Martial Die (which is a d8 at 9th) applied to it.
So be it, I'm just glad I use a 3rd party Char Sheet.

OP said he was using the Legacy Monk not the 2024 one. It could be the bug then.
