Has anyone started a campaign, or is preparing too, set in Ravnica? The book is chock full of world building bits, but it lacks details on running long term campaigns there. I’ve seen it suggested several times to run it in place of Sigil in a Planescape game, but I’ve never played a game using that setting.
TLDR: How are you implementing Ravnica in your games?
As far as I understand, I would lean into campaigns depending entirely on what the characters are. In other words, a party of Boros, Azorius, and Orzhov are going to have a COMPLETELY different experience than a party of Golgari, Rakdos, and Dimir. Seems like the sort of thing where you either restrict your campaign to being part of particular factions so you can focus on their story goals, or waiting until you have players who TELL you which goals they would like to pursue.
I don't plan on running campaigns in Ravnica, but I have followed discussions about it here and on enworld. A number of folks are planning on using the Ravnica art book that will be released soon for more lore/background/setting info. (It's not 5e specific, but part of a series of Art and Lore books on different MtG settings)
Ravnica is now a setting option at DMs Guild; currently there are only 3 products up, but it was just opened yesterday, more material will certainly be posted over time.
I feel like the Dimir guild is a great fit for an adventuring party because they've infiltrated all the other guilds: you could have a Paladin in the party and it would fit just fine, because you could say it was a Dimir agent infiltrating the Boros Legion. A faction-bound race like a Simic Hybrid is viable for the same reason.
