l like makeing visual repersentations of my characters, but suck at drawing. luckly, with sims 4,fallout 4,and skyrim se,l am able to make humans, elfs, dwarfs, dragonborn, and tabaxi. howevr, non of these (except maybe skyrim se if l can find the right mod to get horns) can allow me to make teiflings. Which is a problem cause a 3rd of my characters are teiflings.
advice on games or other software (especialy if free/under $10 cad) is requested.
There's also an Android app called Reroll that lets you make pixel art of your characters. It doesn't have all of the expanded races, but Tieflings are in there. IIRC, it cost less than $10.
use gimp vs photoshop, its free ..just open the picture, go to 'colors', then 'color balance' and play with the sliders. if you don't want to change the colors on the entire picture, circle the area you do want to change. here's a drow from the dmsguild-provided art that i turned into a water genasi with algea-green armor (also had to change the spider headband into a generic stone though). she's a rather intimidating ship's bosun.
The images you get from Hero Forge have no color, they're greyscale/black&white.Pretty soon, Hero Forge will have color anyway, so it won't really matter:

doesn't matter, even if your computer did save screenshots as greyscale, 2 mouseclicks converts to rgb and then its the same process of just moving sliders until you're happy. here's one i just did from heroforge...took maybe 2 minutes, and then only because i got sidetracked trying to get a better silver color (should have just left it alone, the original grey would have looked better). it would like infinitely better if done by a professional or if i took the time to figure out how to use gimp. and the process works for any picture beyond what can be found in hero forge.

Cool. I already own the whole Adobe suite, so I’ll stick to what I already know how to use. If I even bother, when I grab them from heroforge I usually just leave them grayscale because I like it.
Nowadays they seem to require payment but offer a free trial.
It's more complicated than Photoshop or Gimp, but you get raytraced images with photo-realistic (or at least computer-gamey) look and you can learn the basics in maybe two or three hours with a good video tutorial. :-)
I couldn't draw a round circle if my life depended on it, but with a bit of practice and about one week of free time things like this become possible for me:

If you want to use Hero Forge, you can also buy the STL file and import it in Blender or similar software.
https://www.blender.org/
Blender itself is free, but takes a bit to get used to.
Cgcookie had some great tutorials to get started when I learned to use Blender about a decade ago.

So I'd say it's well worth the time invested if you want to create great pictures on your own. :-)
