I've got some homebrew items I want to allow my players to attach to their D&D Beyond character sheets... but some have secret, even cursed-related, info.
Is there not some way to add info to a homebrew item that, say, only the item's creator can see??
... that's a pretty clumsy workaround for a feature that seems basic enough they should include it in the item template. *shrug* But if that's the only way :/ I appreciate the advice
Oh wait, that's no good either. According to the item creation tip, all items you create are visible to your campaigns even if you DON'T share with the community! Ugh!
"Remember, private homebrew is automatically shared with other users in your campaigns and does not need to be shared with the community for players to access."

If you keep it out of your “collection” then they cannot see it. Then add it back into your collection when you need them to see it.
Yes it is incredibly clumsy. Very clearly whoever designed this did not think about what DMs would actually need if running a campaign through DDB... which is why I don't really do it anymore.

WOTC lies. We know that WOTC lies. WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. We know that WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. And still they lie.
Because of the above (a paraphrase from Orwell) I no longer post to the forums -- PM me if you need help or anything.
My understanding is that the homebrew system was not designed specifically for customer use. It just connects to the tools the developers use to create the official material. This is why it is clunky and lacking in QoL features.

Sure, create a second item copy and call it Cursed Version and don't make it public!

Oh, OK, I see... I guess that explains why there's a "My Collection" and "My Creations" :/ kinda clumsy. Good workaround tip! Thanks!

That is correct, yes.
