I granted my players a boon that was basically a ring / cloak of protection. For the two players who use dndbeyond I created a copy of the Cloak of Protection, changed the name, and removed the checkmark for Requires Attunement.
The problem I'm having though is that the bonuses aren't being applied to either character when they use the item. I would share the item, but it says:
This Item cannot be shared with the community for the following reasons:
Beacon of Protection is currently too similar to Ring of Protection to share with the community.
I have double checked that it doesn't require attunement, and the both player have the item marked as active equipment. Could anyone explain why they aren't getting the bonuses, and / or how I should go about granting them the correct bonuses?
When you say it's part of their active equipment, do you mean it's in their inventory, or they have the item equipped? Having it in your inventory is not the same as equipping the item so that may be something they will have to do if they haven't already.
There is a known bug where starting with an item that requires Attunement and then removing it breaks the item. You could either remake it from scratch and it would work, or else add all the same bonuses to a feat that they could add directly to their sheets. (Feats are more like boons anyway.)
The character builder doesn't actually use the term equipped. The item is "In Use" when viewed from the builder and marked as "Active" when viewed on the character sheet. So yes, it is equipped, but I was trying to use the terminology the website uses.

Thanks, I did end up adding it as a feat.
