Hi folks - I've searched around on this and can't find the answer, so I'm hoping the hive mind can help! :)
I'm putting together a Druid subclass, and one of the things it gains is the produce flame cantrip at 2nd level. This should not count against the number of cantrips known (2), and should be always prepared.
I've gone into "Edit Spell Mapping" and tried just about every combination of "Consumes Spell Slot", "Counts as Known Spell", and "Always Prepared" that I can think of, and none of them give me what I'm after. Each time, the spell appears in the list of cantrips alright (it's a Druid spell), but it has to be manually selected as one of the two possible cantrips, or if I just select "Counts as Known Spell = Yes", I just get too many cantrips (3/2).
I'm at a loss at the moment - does anyone have any ideas?
Edit: I've been able to add a 5th level spell for a level 14 ability without a problem, but when I try the exact same method for a cantrip at level 2, it just doesn't show up.
Just make a 2nd level class feature, and with in that feature go to “add spell” if you want it to be a specific cantrip, put its name in the “spell” field. If you want it to be a choice of Cantrip, then just put “spell level”=Cantrip and put in the spell list you want it to draw from (“Wizard” for example) for “consumes spell slot” leave it blank (Cantrips never consume spell slots after all) for “counts as spell known”=“no,” “always prepared”=“yes” and that should do it. That’s how it always works for me.

Wow. I did as you suggested, though I'm pretty sure I tried that combination earlier, and it worked...but I'm not sure it wasn't working earlier, now. What I was doing was testing it in a "dummy" version of a Druid. In the character editor, I was looking in "Spells" and seeing that "Produce Flame" wasn't listed as "Always Prepared". Each time I'd make a change to the class feature, I'd refresh the character editor, and sure enough, there'd be no change.
This time, however, I went straight to the character sheet and lo and behold, "Produce Flame" is listed as an extra cantrip in the spells section. It may well have been there during the hours I spent yesterday trying to get this right, but because I hadn't checked the sheet, only the editor, I hadn't seen it!
Either way, thanks for your response and suggestion! Whatever the case, your magic worked! :)
I’m glad! Sometimes what happens is that the feature itself changed the way you wanted it to, but it won’t show up on the Character Sheet unless you refresh that page in the browser.
If you followed my exact instructions then re-save that class feature, and also re-save the entire Homebrew using the main [SAVE CHANGES] button under Basic Information. You MUST do that whenever you add anything to, edit anything on, or remove anything from any homebrew or the system won’t pick up your changes. After that it can sometimes take up to 20 minutes for those changes to push through to the character builder/sheet. You might need to “wake up” your character sheet by raising and lowering the class level to trigger a cache update.

I have done the same thing with my Warlock subclass but it is not working. Can you offer any help?
