So, I recently watched Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. I was particularly intrigued by the dark fey, and would love to make them as a race. But probably change the name slightly.
So far, I have: +1 wis, flight equal to walking speed (30ft), (want something else here, not sure of the trait). .
Subraces: desert: +1 con and strength, unarmoured AC: 13+dex, and mold earth cantrip (not sure on cantrip).
Tundra: +1 dex and intelligence, resistance to cold damage, frostbite (again, not sure).
Jungle: +1 dex and Charisma, camouflage: change appearance to environment as bonus action (advantage of stealth checks for round), thorn whip (not sure).
Am I missing any? If I am, I'll post them here if I remember/watch it again. Well, what do you think? Any ideas on this, and the traits? Any subraces I missed?

Well - compare it to the Aarakocra. They get 25 ft walk 50 ft fly as well as +3 to stats and 1d4 unarmed attacks with claws. That's it.
So you're toning down the fly speed - but it's still fly speed and therefore very powerful. This means you want the extras to be only a little better than having 1d4 unarmed attacks.
Giving resistances and a cantrip while also giving flight is absolutely OP.
Ok. I think that maybe I should put more into subraces, so that the race as a whole is more balanced. Otherwise the amount of features is too much, and it would be op. So: +1 wisdom and flight equal to walking speed, but have to land at the end of your turn. 30ft walking speed.
Subraces: I want suggestions. And I forgot forest (+1 dex and wis or con?, Speak with animals 1/LR?). So any more help would be greatly appreciated!

A ideia i have about flying creatures are limited the fly aspect by risk of exhaustion. The player can fly a number of times equal the proefiency bonus, for 5min. Gain all the fly "charges" back after a short rest. The player can fly more the numbers of the proefiency bonus, but they gain levels of exhaustion.
Sure I am aware that the mix will in fact most likely render a tiefling but you can use the wings and the skeleton perhaps .I am as well in the process of making such a race with the horns and wings as well . One useful page I found about mixed races focuses as well on the one previously mentioned and I think it names them Tempestas Avarialien . You can choose also to only have one of the two : fire resistance and resistance of being charmed or put to sleep . Finally I'd suggest you check out Drya'boli as well . You can always correct me if I am wrong

Flight, even just equal to walking speed is very powerful. Frankly what you got is already overly powerful.
How would you change it? That's the whole point of the thread!

Ok. I value your input, but how would you make it balanced? I can say that ranger is bad. It won't help make it better. So what are your ideas?

If you have them a pseudo flying feature where they have to land every turn or fall that would help to rebalance things.

You could mix avariel with tiefling .
