Hi, all. I'm still relatively new to creating different types of armor that aren't armor, for example, silk armor that lets you add your Charisma modifier instead of Dexterity. The main use for this could be a dancer style bard that thinks leather or studded leather armor is too clunky, or a clumsy sorcerer who wanted to use their wiles to protect them rather than their reflexes, or perhaps a barbarian lord or lady got their hands on a set, and their charisma gives them more of a boon than their Dexterity or Constitution (strange, I know, but it could happen).
The way I currently have it set up in the homebrew item creator is as follows:
Rarity: Rare
Base Item Type: Item
Magic Item Type: Wondrous Item
Requires Attunement: No
Description: "If you aren't wearing armor, your base Armor Class is 11 + your Charisma modifier."
Modifiers:
Bonus - Unarmored Armor Class = Charisma
Set - Armor Class = 11
My issue is five-fold:
The "Set - Armor Class = 11" modifier does not work. Like, at all.
Even if I set the "Set - Armor Class = 11" to "Set - Unarmored Armor Class = 11," it doesn't change it. It just keeps the base AC at 10, giving both Dexterity and Charisma bonuses to the unarmored AC of the character.
If I set the "Set - Armor Class = 11" to "Set - Minimum Base Armor Class = 11," that negates the Charisma bonus.
If I keep the change in Problem 3 (P3), it would negate any unarmored movement bonuses gained from the Barbarian (Level 5) and Monk (Level 2+) because then it counts as armor.
If I change "Base Item Type - Item" to "Base Item Type - Armor (Leather)," it would still keep the Dexterity bonus (which is not wanted), and it would still negate the unarmored movement bonuses gained from the classes listed in Problem 4 (P4).
Is there any possible way, within the homebrew item creator/editor, to make it so that a wondrous item, such as the silk armor, would be able to make it so that it functions as Leather Armor, but using Charisma instead of Dexterity and without it functioning as armor?
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
