How do I add a point system like Ki, Grit, or sorcery points to a home brew subclass where it would be equal to a certain ability modifier like charisma?

You make an Action as part of a feature, and then you have to set a “Reset Type” like Short Rest or Long Rest. Then, after you save the Action, you need to go back and edit it again so you can add a “Limited Use” and set that to match the Charisma modifier and save that. Then you have to save the Action again, then save the Feature again, and finally you must save the entire homebrew again using the main “SAVE CHANGES” button to trigger the server to pick up the changes. Then just be patient as it could take up to 20 minutes for those changes to appear on a character sheet.
ok sorry to be so annoying im just new to this. Do I only have to put in the reset type on the add action page and then do the limited use to be charisma modifier?

Yes. In the action you set the “reset type” and save. Then, you have to edit the action you just created, and you will be able to set the limited use all the way at the bottom.
Then, re-save they action, re-save the feature, and re-save the whole subclass.
So I got it to use the modifier but Im not seeing how to also add the players current level
You don’t. You have to manually create a separate set of 20 limited uses, one for each level. So for the level one you set it to 1 use, for the level 2 limited use you set it to 2 uses, etc.
I don't think D&D Beyond has any actions that are programmed to draw from the same pool exactly. I mean even ki related stuff you have your ki pool that you have to adjust yourself, which are separate from the actions.
If you want to just make a pool then you should be able to use the information presented to make an action that you can use as a pool.
Then you make separate actions that use text to tell you how many points you will have to manually deduct from the pool.

Thank you so much!
How would i do a snippet code to make the limited use be charisma modifier plus class level?
The snippet won’t make it that way, it just describes what you have made. You can learn more about snippets by following this link:

I am not seeing the "Reset Type" option on my Custom Action. Is this no longer a feature, or is it just a premium one?
