Hey all! I'm trying to adapt the Unearthed Arcana: That Old Black Magic Abyssal Tiefling for my campaign setting. One problem that I've run into when trying to adapt their "Abyssal Fortitude" feature (Your hit point maximum increases by half your level [minimum 1]) is that I'm not able to add decimals into the Bonus to HP Per Level. Both .5 and 0.5 are treated as invalid numbers. Is there any way I can get this feature to parity with the UA using D&D Beyond metadata?

When you divide for features, abilities, and traits in D&D, you always round down to the nearest whole number.

I understand that rule, but the issue I'm having is in editing the metadata for the racial feature that calculates the amount of bonus health you have. I'm trying to recreate the race as a D&DBeyond homebrew race using D&DBeyond's metadata to automatically calculate everything. If I were to round up to 1, it would be giving anyone who chooses this race double the amount of hitpoints they're supposed to receive.
What you want is not currently possible. There is currently no known way to adjust that modifier to only apply a bonus calculated by any sort of level divisor, and there is no other modifier which could be used to add HP to a character sheet at all.

That's what I feared. I tried using a decimal first, and then while I was waiting for replies on this thread I tried to see if I could add 1 HP every two levels (i.e. 1 HP at level 2, another at 4, etc.) and there seemed to be no way to do that using the metadata. Thank you for letting me know, though! I suppose I'll slap poison resistance onto the tiefling for the time being instead.
You could simply list it as plain text and just rely on the player’s own vested self interest supported by a simple reminder by the DM. There already exists a mechanic for adding HP to a PC on leveling. Players are already expected to generally be responsible for managing those HP for themselves. And it is only between 1-10 Hp over 20 levels, so even if they think they might have missed on it won’t break the game either way if you tell them to add one to make sure they get it or if you tell them not to as a learning exercise. Just a thought.
