I searched for this but unless my google-fu failed me, no one has made this. I added a generic Ring of the Ram to a character but can't find a way to add it to the attack page so I thought I would homebrew a range weapon that duplicates it, but have so far been unsuccessful. Anyone have better insight on how this can be done? Thanks.
It's strange that they didn't actually implement some way to use the Ring of the Ram properly, in fact magic items are actually missing quite a few capabilities. The current "best" way to do this is probably to implement the ram damage as a spell, and have the magic item add that and cast it using its three charges.
This would involve steps like the following:
Create a spell, easiest way is to copy something simple like Evocation -> Burning Hands
Under Basic Information change the name, description and damage type, set the Spell Range Type to Ranged and give a range of 60 feet, remove vocal, somatic and material components, and swap all entries in Available for Class(es) for something that your campaign(s) are unlikely to use (e.g- a UA sub-class).
Under Additional Information, set the area of effect and save type to – (none), and set the Attack Type to Ranged.
Under modifiers, change the damage to 2d10 force damage.
Under At Higher Levels, edit the entry there and change it to 2d10 as the level scaling.
Create a copy of the Ring of the Ram (you've probably already done this)
Under Spells, add your new spell and set the minimum and maximum charges to 1 and 3
When you add this to your character you should gain your spell, and be able to cast it using up to three of the item's available charges and get the correct damage. The one thing you can't do is set the fixed to-hit modifier, which is a problem for similar items like [Tooltip Not Found], they always seem to use your own spell-casting modifier.
Note that after making changes to a homebrew item it can take up to 20 minutes for homebrew to update on a character sheet; it will depend whether you've viewed the character recently and if they already have the item. You can also remove the spell from your homebrew collection to prevent it from appearing even for the class you made it available for, only the ring itself needs to be in your collection.
Of course, this is quite a lot of steps to re-implement this one item, so it's up to you if it's worth it.

It is currently impossible to add Actions to Magic Items. They have said that they are working on that though.
Thanks, but what about using something like a short bow or pistol and renaming it Ring of the Ram? Any way to to that? I tried but could not figure out how to make the 7 ATK and the damage work.

Thanks, I may try that. My fear is that if I don't list it as an attack (weapon or spell option), I will never remember that I have it available as an action - and for my wizard, it would be a nice way to disengage from melee.
