I want to become a member of the club. Since I'm a big fan of the movie The Hobbit. I used to watch it a lot on 123movies. What I admire most about this movie is the talent of director Peter Jackson. He was able to make a nine-hour trilogy out of a generally thin book (The Hobbit). Which is not inferior to "The Lord of the Rings" - in all respects, the dynamism of the plot, special effects, a set of actors, etc. Well, a master, he is a master.
Welcome! I’m Legolas, the cult leader (Valar). Yeah the Hobbit movies are good. I like how they explored a lot of side plots and expanding stuff that Tolkien just mentioned.
I’ve heard really good things about them.
You’ll like it. Legolas gets a romance plot, they made Thorin look like Aragorn, Galadriel 1v1s Sauron and beats the crap out of him, there’s an orc chasing the heroes for extra tension, and Gandalf gets his own plot. Oh and Thranduil is the coolest thing onscreen. You should see his outfits.
Wow!
Galadriel fights Sauron?
Yup. The Hobbit movies arewould be better than the LoTR movies if it was possible for anything to be better than LoTR.

Yup. It’s awesome. One of the best fights in the Tolkien movies. And the Nazgul look way cooler too. You should totally watch them. And words cannot describe Smaug. He’s beyond amazing.

Galadriel’s a total bad ass in that fight.
Sauron “The kingdom of Angmar shall rise!” Galadriel “Nooope.”
Right, so I'm gonna do a series on how to make monsters in Middle Earth in D&D, similar to the character thing. This is gonna feature a lot of me rambling and comparing different traits, ability scores, etc. It's not gonna be as clean-cut as the character stuff, but there will be a finished product at the end.
So, I'ma start with Uruk-Hai. Since I just rewatched FotR last night (for the 1000000000000000 time). The Uruks are big, strong, tough, not the brightest but not as dumb as some orcs, and certainly more commanding and intimidating. They're probably CR 2, like the orog (which is the D&D version of an Uruk). I'm gonna try to use existing traits that fit an Uruk, instead of inventing new stuff. Let's do this. I'll be going along each part of the standard monster stat block.
First off, name. Uruk-Hai. Boom. Nailed it.
They're a Medium Humanoid, goblinoid subtype cause all Tolkien's orcs, goblins, uruks, and whatnot are related.
Armor Class: They seem to be wearing some sort of half-plate (AC 15), plus a shield (AC 17)
Hit Points: These are mostly based on CR. We'll figure those out at the end.
Speed: Standard 30 feet of movement, nothing special.
Ability Scores: STR 16, they're big and strong. DEX 11, they're pretty average on the nimbleness front. CON 16, they're tough and have lots of stamina. INT 9, they're not the brightest but not the dumbest, either. WIS 11, they seem to be fairly average with this. CHA 10, they are big and commanding.
Skills: Athletics cause they're good at running. Intimidation cause they're scary. Survival cause they can track.
Senses: Standard 60 feet of darkvision.
Languages: Common, Black Speech.
Challenge Rating: 1 or 2, let’s see at the end. They're better than the average orc (CR 1/2), but still weak enough that they can be mowed down by the heroes.
Traits: Let's give them the hobgoblins Martial Advantage trait, as it fits perfectly with the idea of them being disciplined soldier who fight in formation. Throw in the Brute trait from the bugbear, for their ability to kill a soldier in one blow.
Actions: They all have longswords, and some carry pikes. Let’s just go with the longsword, you can make a pike variant pretty easiliy. So all in all, they have +5 to hit, an average 7 (1d8+3) damage with the longsword, plus an extra d8 from Brute makes 12 (2d8+3), and throw in Martial Advantage for another 7 (2d6). That’s 19 DPR, if they hit. Yikes. Looking like CR 2, currently.
And last, lets deal with those hit points. 5 hit dice seems fair for them. That’s an average of 37 HP, with CON mod. CR 1 or CR 2? I’m stuck. Let’s hope someone on the club is better with CR then I am, and can give an answer.
Well, that was certainly more boring then the character stuff. Do people want to see more of this or should I just stick with the characters? I'm not the best homebrewer.
EDIT: Heck, now I need to put this into the homebrew tool. Ugh. It'll be posted soon.

I think the characters are funner
I agree, but the monsters are more useful for most people.

This is great! I like it.
Your good at this stuff! I really like all your guides

If you Pm me we could work on some together
Sure I need help with the big ones like Nazgul. The low level stuff is easy, but the bosses with unique abilities are harder.
Yup. The Hobbit movies
arewould be better than the LoTR movies if it was possible for anything to be better than LoTR.Looking for a campaign? Or, perhaps, trying to start one? Come join Rolegate! Just send me a friend request (same name as here) and I'll help you get started!

Yup. It’s awesome. One of the best fights in the Tolkien movies. And the Nazgul look way cooler too. You should totally watch them. And words cannot describe Smaug. He’s beyond amazing.
