A human enters the tavern, looking mostly normal besides their glowing purple eyes. Welcome Azazel back :D (The pm got shut down cause of OOC stuff with cyno (nothing bad for the most part) so he's back in play)

*Great rolls :D, thats a good omen!*
They have trouble picking up a trail, but thankfully the poster that they took has leads to where the creature supposedly in staying in the forest
*Lol, such a wonderful opening roll.*
Mirinn wanders through the forest, heading to the first lead listed.
As she heads deeper into the forest, the branches on nearby trees seem snapped off, and there is the faint scent of blood
Mirinn crouches down, following the broken branches and trying to be sneaky.
Stealth (if it's necessary): 13

There seem to be scratches into the trees, and a sorta.... crunching sound underfoot
Mirinn continues on, sure that looking down would be a mistake. As she walks, she looks for any sign of the manticore.
Perception: 21
or
Investigation: 16
SHe hears the distinct sound of something large eating in the distance towards the left, followed by what sounds like a bone snapping
She readies her axes, breathing softly to prepare herself. Then, she burst forward, running at 80ft. (by dashing, of course)
As she runs, she breaks into a clearing, a bestial-like form hunched over a corpse, seeming to be eating it. Its not exactly like a manticore, however its far from a normal beast. A large scorpions tail adorns its form along with long claws and a hide that has a couple arrows sticking out of it
Initiative: 18 , 9 *advantage*
The creature doesn;t notice them at first, but sensing something it turns around, growling at her
Initiative: 15
Mirinn twirls one of her axes on it's chain, throwing it across the clearing to attack the creature, then pulling it back and throwing the other one in a dance-like manner.
12 to hit, 6 damage
15 to hit, 4 damage *on a crit, plus 7 damage*
The first one misses, and the second one is knocked to the side by the beasts tail. The creature then moves forward 30ft and attempt to strike her with the tail:
Attack: 17 Damage: 6
Attack: 23 Damage: 9
She dodges the first attack, but the second one solidly hits her in her side, leaving a gash.
She spins her axe on it's chain and sends it flying at it again, then follows up by breathing ice in it's direction after pulling the axe back.
30 to hit, 9 damage
Con save, dc 16 13 damage, or half on a success
Then, Mirinn enters her rage.
The attack hits, embedding itself into the creatures side, the creature letting out a pained roar

*A bit of time-warping because I can't literally be on at anyone's midnight.*
At midnight, Rusty is walking around his carriage mansion, with nothing but a lantern he carries lighting the darkness. In his other hand, he carries the False Hydra young *whatever it was*, then enters into a dark, but spacious, room. He walks to a blank wall, and spreads the FHY on it, pulling out some chalk and making an outline about his size around it.
A black door appears. A plaque on it reads:
E
Lost items and people found
Catering
It creaks open. It leads to the room where Rusty first met E. "I almost didn't expect you to do it."
Rusty smiled, teeth and eyes glinting in the lamp light like tiny stars in space. "Of course I would do it, I'd never abandon an apprentice."
"Since we now have some privacy, and you are already aware of my appearance, I see no reason not to explain my nature. Despite what many believe, I am neither demon nor undead. I am without a worldly nature. I am an amalgamation of fear and dark thoughts. I was born when the people of Rotford killed each other out of paranoia, using naught but tooth and nail."
Rusty lifted the lamp up to his mouth, blowing the light out. Of course, the lamp was unnecessary for them both, so there was no point to it in the first place. "That is quite a shame. How do you feel about that?"
"It is... unfortunate. But I don't blame myself for what those people did. After all, there are many creatures much like myself that do much worse things and are created by much more innocent thoughts. In fact, that thing I gave you was one of them."
"Oh, I understand that extremely well..." Rusty takes off his hat and looks at it fondly. "... it is always the most pure intention that has the darkest reciprocation."
"I don't mean to be rude, but I am in dire need of more guests. The inn appears to be much less... fruitful, shall we say, than expected."

Rusty looks up and widely smiles. "Well it is good that I prepared some staff to help you in searching." He spreads his arms open, and all manner of different toys spill into the room from the door Rusty entered from, covering half the floor. Some of them are the size of miniatures, others are the size of medium-sized dogs, and there were two or three that were the size of Rusty himself. They all took a deep bow (those that could) as Rusty put his hat back on. "I have given them orders to follow your words as if they were mine, you may ask of them anything you like.... including inviting guests to a banquet." Rusty pulls out a wad of letters from his coat. "These are little invitations I figured could be useful for you. You may send them out as soon as you get the dining hall in there prepared." He gestured to the doorway that leads to his carriage-mansion.

The two see that there is another door in the room, and Rusty is standing on the other side of it.
The beast waves its claw and a curtain of shadow covers that door.
"I have hurt no one. Why must you hurt me?"

The creature misses, and Mirinn responds with a swing of one of her axes (opportunity attack from the creature entering melee range) followed by the other one, then twirls around and swings again, followed by a fourth swing of her axe (Two-Weapon Fighting bonus action thingy), having even more weight behind them than before. Her attacks are very reminiscent of a ballerina dance.
