How would you summarize your last session of whatever RPG you played? :)
It was a one shot set in a Domain of Dread of my own creation. Think Huckleberry Finn riverboat style adventures on the River Styx with a lot of Southern Gothic themes. It was a sort of goodbye game for a friend who is moving to another state for school. I was pleasantly surprised by the group’s willingness to roleplay, but their character’s brashness really derailed the adventure. We were going to have a follow up session tomorrow but the friend who is leaving is too busy so we probably won’t ever finish it.

I was running Pointy Hats Feywild adventure. The party fought the terrors, which took the form of a large spider for the Dragonborn, a being of fire that was unreasonable for the elf, and a full devilish version of the Tiefling. They actually met them in the earlier session, but one of the players forgot their character sheet. They take them down and head over to the Pleasantry Grove, where they struck a deal with the queen. They give her the Chest Weasel (who was currently in the Dragonborn’s ear), for a few members of the grove. The queen accepted, not knowing that the Chest Weasel couldn’t be put to sleep. Fast forward, the players find the nearby town is destroyed, and they don’t know why. And that’s the end of this current campaign.
How would you summarize your last session of whatever RPG you played? :)
The last one I played: Our characters finished out the night of a festival, sending their lanterns into the air or out on the water with their hopes and dreams written down. A few romances blossomed, some friendships were established, and some were alone with their thoughts. But at the end, greater beings visited some of us in visions, telling us of grave danger and an important task.
The last session I ran (which was last night): The party gave an important general information on the strange bandit organization terrorizing the region, moved on towards the city where a commander of the guard has promised to help them, and ran into a huge earth serpent that tried to devour them (it did not succeed).
What are some unusual character backgrounds/stories your character(s) have had?
I made a character who was just a normal fire ant queen with her colony in a forest that suffered from an arcane cataclysm. This effect killed her entire colony and infused her with strange and wild magic that transformed her into a larger, more sentient, and more powerful form (Thri-kreen) who's colony was now a ghostly swarm that followed her around and continued to serve her even in this strange state (Swarmkeeper Ranger). She would be more of a caster with cantrips like Primal Savagery, Produce Flames, Infestation, and Poison Spray to mimic more magical versions of the ant's natural attacks.

Whether in person, virtual, or play by post/email - what is it about the Dungeon Master (Or Game Masters, if it's not D&D) - that you enjoy? What are some traits about that DM/GM that make them shine?

Their creativity and the way we all have fun when we play with them.

I really like D&D, especially Ravenloft, Exandria and the Upside Down from Stranger Things. My pronouns are she/they (genderfae).
I get that everybody is entitled to play however they want as long as it isn't abusive but... I dunno I really though the time of the emo loner was done.

They know when to sit back and let the players riff off each other; bonus points if they can cause that to happen.
Good! Done with camp. Just chillin at home till school starts in a little less than a month. Hbu?
Cannot complain. I'm enjoying Olympics memes and I've been playing Alan Wake 2, with which I am currently obsessed. Top-notch stuff.
It's funny that I'm chatting with people in school. I completed the final exam I'll ever take in 2016, in grad school. You know what sucks though? I still get nightmares about school and exams. I suspect I will forever.

Me too lol. Exams are rough. Even in high school. At least at my high school.

they are supposed to be tough but you think they are hard here in the US? try the English colleges - 3.5 years of classes and then ALL the exams in the last semester, If you don't really know your stuff you've had it - no cramming for the test you have to integrate everything into what you already know all the way along. On the other hand you'll have it all for the rest of your life probably without ever having to relearn it. work for that goal in HS and college (and everything after) is easy.
Yeah, my first year of grad school was like that. We had three major exams at the end of the year, all within the span of about two weeks. If you fail them, you're kicked out. But my nightmares are all of high school and college. You know the ones where you're late for the exam of a class you didn't know you were enrolled in and so on.
I'm finer than frog hair split four ways. Just got back from camping. Usually I camp in the forested mountains but this time we went to a marsh (in Appalachia so there were still mountains). Saw Cesspool Cave and explored the river and swamp while hunting for a beaver dam I never actually found. I've also been street performing and it's been really fun to dress up as a clown and juggle with professional freaks and artists. College starts back up again soon but I'm looking forward to that as well.

I've analyzed your post with a magnifying glass and lemon juice, and I've concluded that I love everything about it.

Does 40K count? Me and my friends play it like it is with a story and stuff. Basically it was my imperial fists versus his chaos warhound titan😂

somehow, I never had those nightmares. of course, reading Encyclopedia Brittanica in grades 7-9 helped make most all exams easy into Grad school.

Especially in high school. At least in college and beyond, you get to choose the major subjects you're taking.
