Regarding the monster question it's hard for to keep all the source material separate. I like dragons of all types. I like shadow beings whether they are fey or undead. I also find really freaky looking monstrosities appealing because they scare my players.

This is probably a good summary of my favorite childhood toys... I've always loved toys - so these are the ones that stick out and I have the most memories with.
The Stompers 4x4 I had a the brown Datsun jeep (even found the exact on ebay when I went looking for this thread.... so tempted to get it... but 50 bucks? Too much for nostalgia at the moment)... The Tandy Football game (again, ebay... and quite reasonable... may be stupid and buy one later)... Anytime my parents when I was a kid dragged me anywhere, I brought that thing with me... Gumby and Pokey have been a staple in my life since I was an infant... and still is... have a mini one I take on travels and take photos with around things... and the normal sized one is on my shelf... Star Wars figures, the originals... had so many of them.... so many of them... so many sets... man, I regret giving them away when I moved... my 5.5 years in Japan when I was super young, had a number of the Shogun Warrior toys... and in my teens, along with Star Wars had a bunch of He-Man figures, with Mer-Man (pictured there) being my favorite... always been a water person.
Followup question: What are your favorite toys from childhood - mine are LEGOs, Micromen, Battlestar Galactica action figures, and...some chemistry set my parents got.
Bionicle, and it's not even close. I enjoyed plenty of toys -- Transformers, Nerf, Hot Wheels, Beyblade... All the stuff your parents get you when they think you're a boy ;) -- but nothing compares to the eternal majesty of the Bionicle franchise. I got in at the very start. I even had one of the Throwbots and a couple Roboriders.
I also had a gigantic (like 2-foot tall) Spider-Man action figure that kicked major ass. Based on one of the Sam Raimi movies. The dude had individual joints all the way out to the fingers, and they were all really flexible and strong so you could get him in classic Spider-Man poses. I mean the build on this thing was legitimately insane. It must have cost my parents a fortune. If I find a picture online I'll post it. No idea what ever happened to the one I had.
EDIT: Found him! He's from 2004, made by ToyBiz, and he's a foot and a half tall. You can't get one for less than about $250 today. Holy crap.
Followup question: What are your favorite toys from childhood - mine are LEGOs, Micromen, Battlestar Galactica action figures, and...some chemistry set my parents got.
Legos, Ninja Turtle, Marvel, & G.I. Joe action figures (from the original toy lines), and my Sega Genesis.
90% of your argument is personal preference and opinions.
Good point but it’s a comparison, diablos graphics are better.
Okay, if we're going down this route:
Diablo I was released in 1996. Now I don't know about you, but those 2D graphics look pretty crunchy to me.
Diablo II was released in 2000. Basically the same graphical capabilities as I.
Diablo III looks *okay* graphically, but it really isn't anything special.
The only logical argument I can see is that Minecraft Dungeons has a pixel-art aesthetic, whereas Diablo is more dark and gritty. This doesn't make any sense however, as the artstyle is a different topic to graphical capability.
If you're saying that Dungeons has "worse graphics" than Diablo because of its pixel-art aesthetic, then I don't know what to tell you. Artstyle and graphical capability are not the same thing.

I love that the extra C was actually part of the story. I had noticed the error a while ago but didn't want to interrupt so I just rolled with it. Loving the story
Followup question: What are your favorite toys from childhood - mine are LEGOs, Micromen, Battlestar Galactica action figures, and...some chemistry set my parents got.
Lego mainly. A neighbour gave me and my older sister a huge second-hand box of it at some point (don't remember exactly when, probably before I was 10 idk). Still have the entire box worth today. I sorted it out into a set of drawers a while ago, and still build things occasionally.
I had a metric buttload of tiny cars which I recently gave to a charity shop. Have no idea where I got them from, only that I'd had them for as long as I can remember.
If consoles count, I had a Gameboy Advance SP from ages 5-11. The only game I had was a bootleg 200-in-1 cartridge with a bunch of Famicom ROMs. The console and cart died when the dog got to it lol.
Sister also had a DS which I played on frequently. I still retain that Mario Kart DS is the best game in the series. Oh and I had a Wii for about 7 years, until it refused to read discs and was eventually replaced with a Wii U.

Today’s tip/idea: Try running the same adventure for two or three groups. This works best with a one-shot or a pre-written, fairly short adventure. I enjoy using the heists from Golden Vault, especially Fire & Darkness, which has become a favorite adventure of mine. I’ve run it for a few groups now and it’s better every time. This improves your storytelling and improvisational ability. It’s sort of like practicing dnd.

I had a fair amount of Legos, including Bionicle. I gave them all away when I went to college, which I kinda of regret now as a 30 year old man, lmao.

Heh - yeah, I noticed the extra 'C' so I was looking for a way to drop it - and I thought, "Oh, this will flow right into the 'c'ursed idea.
Same when Midnightplat was written as Midnight_plat - and his UID doesn't have a _ in it - so I made it part of the story.
I am currently running a campaign in which one group went through an area and the other group went through the same area after it was repopulated.
My son is in both groups and when he figured it out, he was quite surprised.
Ah, cool. You do (what I call) "a living world" like I do. I run three games (actively; the 4th went on hold when Pandemic hit - and we've not rescheduled to resume yet, because they all want in person versus remote). And in all (four) of the games, it's in my homebrew world. So the events of one group impacts the world. So if Group_A burns down Town_A, when Group_B reaches Town_A, it will either still be burnt down or in the process of being rebuilt. It's a lot of fun. One of my players is in all of my games (similar to your son) so she gets to see all the events happening and how it's all connected game-wise. It's such a fun thing to do.

Yes. We do this as well. I actually plan to do that with one of the runs of Fire and Darkness (I have one more game of it coming up) because I thought it would be fun to connect this one-shot with my actual game. The game is set in my homebrew world, as is the one-shot, though the one I’m going to link will probably be the most recent one because it was the most fun with that group.
I’m amazed by my first GM because he ran a game that happened with four groups simultaneously, Monday through Thursday, every week, and he was always prepared. Great guy.

No... don't continue? :D
Cool, cool. I just want to make sure.
Because some folks might be like, "All right, it was fun at the start... but now we're 8 parts into this weirdness?"
Hah. Just never know when folks don't comment if what you're doing is being enjoyed or not.
Wanted to make sure people were still enjoying whatever ... wherever.... this... "story" for lack of a better word goes.
When no one comments ("Hey XYZ was pretty cool"), you start to wonder if people are "done" with the idea. :)

Never let your players see you sweat. If your players go off the rails, maintain your cool and be like, "Yeah that was part of the plan all along."

I disagree! Making the DM scramble to fix things is one of the sublime joys of being a player!
