Yep. I think I mentioned it elsewhere, but in my experience "Last Comment Win Threads" naturally tend towards being more chat-oriented. There's only so many times one can go "I'm gonna get the last post" and "No you're not" before it gets old, leading to a natural progression.
Well, I only have the free ones available to me on DnDBeyond. And of the characters I've actually played, only two have subclasses I've used. (Fiend Warlock, Draconic Sorcerer.) Because while my Aarakocra Ranger just got to lv3 last night, it won't be until (hopefully) next week that it gets to use that, but it looks like I'll be taking over the DMing for a little while in that friend group so it won't be me using those features. And in terms of feature usage, haven't gotten that much.
So bearing in mind my very limited prospective, I'm going to say Draconic Sorcerer just for the free Mage Armor, although I do like the temp HP from the Warlock's Fiend subclass.

Cool! My favorites are the horizon walker Ranger and the circle of stars Druid, the horizon walker because some of its class features are way too cool, (In a good way. In fact in a great way. Is it possible for something to be way to cool in a bad way?) and the circle of stars druid because of its ability to just blast all its enemies to death with guiding bolt, moon beam and its constellation bow.
I also really like the bard college of swords and the paladin oath of redemption.
Edit: You can find both a Druid circle of stars and a Paladin oath of redemption in my signature
Question: How in-depth would you guys recommend for DM-planning? Looks like I might be running the campaign for a friends group for a little while and I'm kind of trying both to have plans so I'm not caught with my pants down, yet simultaneously find a way to be flexible.
The guy who's been DMing the last couple months did a decent job. So I've got a good legacy to live up to.
Right now I'm partially stuck on logically tying together some of the places I'd want to take them along. Idea is to start in a predominantly centaur village. And I've got ideas for some sidequests there. Then shift them maybe to an intermediate town. And then finally to a 2nd/3rd town where they'll go into the hideout of a Green Hag. And right now I'm stuck on why the hag would have agents doing stuff in a town many miles away instead of staying local. I'm thinking that ultimately she's being funded by the government of a rival empire that's trying to destabilize the one this campaign would take place in, but within that realm I'm having some trouble thinking o' ideas.

I once DM'd an adventure where there was a rival empire trying to take down another empire with agents, so here are some tips: Don't over complicate the campaign itself, just make sure it stays dynamic. You can have a few rest periods for your characters, but if you sense them getting bored, throw something in there to spice things up. For example, if they're sitting at a bar, and there getting a little restless, then have a small fight break out. Nothing too complex, but just enough to fill the moment. As you doing a small campaign put more effort into the small scenes and the details than the plot itself, players tend to love it if it's a really descriptive fight with a opening speech from their enemy and lots of details about where there fighting compared to something really complex with too much build up.
About the whole frame of the adventure, start work on the core parts that you definitely want to happen, and the rest should fall into place.
I've got to go to sleep now, I'll add more tips tomorrow
Hope this helps : )

I want you to know. You are going to lose. You are going to lose badly. You’re going to lose badly and it’s going to be awesome.
Thanks for those tips. I'll have to keep those in mind as I'm thinking of things. Thanks, Drummer, for the tip to not sweat the big picture as much as the smaller details. I'm thinking that'll help me to be more comfortable making the towns they go to feel lively without worrying as much about the threadlines to go between them. (Worst case scenario, a little out of character "Hey, you want to go this place next?") Nothic, thanks for that link. I'll definitely be giving that a read. And thanks for some of the ideas for why the hag is staying in her lair. It's sparking some thoughts.

Thanks for the brief review. And not gonna lie, I didn't know it was on CD already.
It might only be in certain areas right now.

Hollow unbreakable arrows are the most OP common magic item, and my current method of coming up with insane combat shenanigans.
if you make a steel pipe with one end closed and a nozzle on the other, you can enlarge it, fill with any liquid, and then drop concentration, creating a high pressure squirt gun. (or a pipe bomb, depending if it holds)
I have a question. I have been rarely online for the last couple months. In that time did Last-Comment wins actually get more serious or are we still spam town?
I've been thinking about joining a tavern lately, but the most obvious one (TTatEotW? Okay, I am not using that acronym...) seems really intimidating because everything happens so quickly. Heck, that thread moves like ten times as quickly as this one, and there's dozens of subplots going on throughout. The other threads seem interesting, but none are all that appealing. Maybe the Inn of Here?
Anyone have any advice on this? Your experience in these threads?
Heh, Imma be honest. end of the world tavern is fun, sure it's quick but there's more people to interact with. The inn of here is more chill, and slower. ToAT recently closed so theres been a second planned spinoff of that in the works, that might be fun to check out. Guild RP Threads are also pretty cool. I'm not active on a lot of the rest but I'm pretty sure most of those fill a specific Niche market, like the SCP tavern. I suggest just trying each out on your own time and seeing which one you fit into best. That's just my thoughts

I am in the exact same situation as you. I play one character in the Brimstone tavern, but nothing in any of the others. I thought about joining the TTatEotW, but I had the same problem you did. And the Inn of Here is an OK option, but it's a bit too chilled, so I'm keeping it as my backup option. If anyone new of another one, I would be very grateful. : )
