Alexander nods to George, "Glad to be of help." He looks at the axe he just used to attack the statue. "To be perfectly honest, I am not sure." (The axe is a +1 weapon, would what you're thinking of stack on that?)
He turns to Angelino, "Thank you my lord. I will keep my remaining healing in reserve for later." He look better but it is obvious that another good hit from the statue might be lethal. (He will only heal himself as a last resort) When he notices Angelino's sickened expression he asks, "Are you sure you are alright?"
Kay shakes his hand. "Impressive! I'd show off some tricks of my own but I gotta get thought this door." She points at the door behind her with her thumb. "The others just gotta get the statue to move a little farther before it'll open." She ponders the best way to show up the newcomer's acrobatics...
“I’ll try and draw it over, which side do we need it on? Reiterates Stitch.
"It needs to move over to the North door." She points at the door across from her. "Then it will lift this side of the floor and this door will open."
Kay arrives at the South door and looks around. She notices Stitch. "Hey! We have another sneaky person!" She waves enthusiastically at him. "Hello there! My name is Kay! Short for Kayaws!"
Edit: The bad rolls continue
You're a bit preoccupied with keeping upright with the floor tilting, and fail to notice anything with that roll! But you do succeed at arriving at the southern door, which is open and a lever is in the alcove behind it.
Stitch tries to show off by cartwheeling then backflipping towards Kay, holding out his hand, signalling for a handshake.
Acrobatics: 20
Wow! Natural 20! Seems the bad rolls are over.
As you've already guesed, your acrobatic display goes off flawlessly, and you move towards Kay at the South door. As you do so, the statue turns to face you and starts stomping back across the room, causing the South end of the room to swing downwards and the north to rise up as it makes it to the centre. It's blank, bronze eyes are fixed on you.
(By the way, Harmony is actually level 6- haste was a magical secret spell. Since she leveled up in her other campaign I forgot that she was still 5 here. Would you guys prefer she stuck with her level 5 abilities only? Her level 6 is pretty much haste and counterspell.)
I can't see any issues there, This is a fairly loose game so it's no biggy. Maybe everyone can hit level 6 after this room, there's been enough damage dished out! The rooms are generally not combat oriented anyway, and with most abilities being combat related, it's unlikely to make it unbalanced!
( I love how this seems to be turning from free roleplay to an actual and serious campaign against the endless rooms, with levels and everything!)
I’m going to try to flip over it to the north side.
Acrobatics: 18- I’m getting really lucky
Edit: Because Stitch is kinda a show off.
Don't forget to add your modifiers, I saw you rolled a nat 20 and just wrote 20 earlier - I expect that your character has more than +0 for acrobatics!
This is a contested check, with the statue trying to swipe you out of the air as you pass:
The statue takes a swing at you as you approach, and you attempt to leap off its swinging arm and over its back. The fist passes closer than you had expected - a huge weight of metal swinging inches past your face - and your leap carries you over the statue to land, shaken but unharmed, on the other side. That was very close.
The statue starts to turn towards you, in a shriek of twisting metal.
I read the first 20-so pages on the thread then skipped to here so I could join and I have some questions before joining: 1, can I use content (races, subclasses, etc.) from other sources or is it just basic rules? 2, are we still doing the in a room thing or is this something different now? 3, I’m going to make a character sheet, is it ok if I do my rolls irl as I like the feel of rolling real dice or should I do it on here to prevent tampering?
Hello!
This is a fairly loose game, with people dropping in and out as it goes, you're most welcome to join!
I'd recommend reading from this post to catch up on this specific room! It's still running along the same lines, with people trapped in dangerous rooms which they then have to work out their way out of!
I'd say it's fair to say I've been the main DM for this thread, I've no issue with any fancy content being used, I've already been caught out by George the Yuan-ti being immune to Poison in a previous room, and that's what this is all about - DM's can try out their rooms for people to rip to shribbons Test for them!
I believe the general concensus was that we are about level 5 right now, and it's your own responsibility to keep track of what your character can do - it's all on trust. I don't think most people have actual character sheets for this, just a general idea of what they are doing with their character and rough ideas of HP, spell slots, and skill modifiers.
I look forward to your character dropping into the middle of an epic battle with a living statue!
This is a more thorough explanation.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Paladin main who spends most of his D&D time worldbuilding or DMing, not Paladin-ing.
Kay watches as the others struggle against the statue. She is pretty sure that nothing any of them try will actually hurt it. Looking from the bloody Alexander, to Stitch who nearly got hi, she pulls a lightning quiver out of her quiver. “Might as well make it angrier!” She thinks. Then she yells to Stitch. “Hey! If that thing hits you you’ll definitely feel it! It nearly did our paladin in! Here stay out of reach and try to shoot her with this! Ha! Aim for her eye then she can be a pirate statue!” She throws the arrow towards him trying to let it slide across the floor.
Stitch grabs the arrow, and after the statue reaches the north door, tilting the room (I expect), he tries to roll under the statue’s legs, waits for it to turn around, then attempts to shoot it in the eye with the lightning arrow.
It's a drop-in drop-out sort of thing, so please do!
No real need for a character sheet, just a fair idea of what you can do and a name is really all you need. But feel free to make a character sheet if you want to! We're about level 5, ish. It's kind of gone from roleplay to actual gameplay now, so hey, give it another month and it'll be a proper play-by-post with initiative orders and character sheets for all!

Acrobatics: 23
Attack: 16
Damage: 8
Lightning damage: 4
As the statue lumbers to the Northern end of the room after you, the floor tilts up and lifts Kay up to the doorway with the lever in the alcove.
The statue swipes at you as you attempt to roll past it;
Attack: 19 Damage: 7
And once again its attack narrowly misses you, the swing of its arm knocking chips from the ground as you deftly roll through the gap between it's legs.
It straightens up and begins to turn towards you, and you loose your arrow; it pings harmlessly from one furrowed bronze brow, and she bares her teeth at you in a look of seething rage, and continues to turn towards you.
Current situation: Statue is at the North side, facing inwards. Stitch is in front of it; Alexander, Angelino and George are behind it. Kay is beside the South doorway, which is open. The floor is tilted such that Kay is on the high end, and everyone else is on the low end. The barred door (only 1 bar left) is below the ground level in the South wall.
“No, I don’t like blood”
"It needs to move over to the North door." She points at the door across from her. "Then it will lift this side of the floor and this door will open."
Knowing that the statue is angry at him, Stitch slowly backs toward the north door, leading the statue.

Yeah, you're welcome to join. How much have you read of this? You'll need to give us your character's general description (name, race, class*, etc.)
*If you want to make a character sheet, we're level 5 (basically).

“Hey Kay!” Calls Stitch, worried he’s messed everything up, “You wouldn’t happen to have any more of those lightning arrows by any chance would you?”
