Here are a few tips for playing in a play-by-post format:
Making Rolls
Throughout the adventure I'll ask you all to make rolls for certain things like attacking, initiative, or skill checks.
The easiest way to do this is to click the dice icon at the very end of the chat box tool bar. If you're unsure which dice to roll or if you need to add/subtract anything from it, let me know and I'll help you. I'm assuming you all have the basic understanding of how attack rolls and skill checks are made and what modifiers to add/subtract, but if you don't or you're not sure please ask! This is the place to learn!
This article goes into detail about the different ways you can make rolls in your posts. If you're totally new, please check it out!
Here's a format you all can use for your posts. Feel free to format them how you like, I just prefer this way for clarity.
General, Non-Combat Posts
Gribz will approach the shop keep, give him his most charming smile, and say:
"Hello good sir, my name is Gribz. If that sounds familiar it's because it is. Yes, I'm THE Gribz. Star of Thellasian's Travelling Theater. Surely, you could afford a discount on these fine goods knowing it will support the realm-renowned Gribz?"
I'd like to make a persuasion check to see if I can convince the shop keep to give me a discount.
Persuasion: 6
Combat Posts
Gribz will draw his twin scimitars and twirl them nimbly in his hands. "These blades aren't just for show, cur. Surrender now or it'll be curtain call for you!"
If the man isn't willing to surrender Gribz will move closer to him and attack him with both scimitars. If the man surrenders, Gribz will sheathe his blades and use rope from his pack to tie the man's hands.
Movement: E4 to H5
Attack, Scimitars: Main-hand 4, Off-hand 9
Target: The man at H6
Damage: Main-hand 7, Off-hand 7
Like I said earlier, feel free to format your posts in whatever way works best for you. I just find that something similar to the posts above makes the most sense to me. As long as I can figure out what you're doing/saying, who you're attacking, where you're moving, and what you're rolling for skills/attacks, it'll be fine.
First Posts
Since we're all new here and we're here to learn, let's get our first posts and rolls out of the way! Go ahead and type up a post that includes a line spoken by your character and a roll for either an attack or skill check. If you're unsure how to do that, post that you're unsure and we'll all figure it out together!
i am on my laptop and so the die is the 3 circles going horizontally down from the top left corner of the square to the bottom right of the square. You could be one mobile or somethin
I've noticed that the toolbar with the dice roller is not available on my phone, even if I turn the phone 90 degrees. I can see it on my iPad, so I will need to be using it instead of my phone.
Lander walked into the back of the cottage. He knew that the thief must have hidden the necklace somewhere in the room. As he looked around for clues he mumbled: "That damn thing has gotta be here somewhere!"
I'd like to make an investigation check to try and find any clues that may give me an idea where the necklace is.
If you're on mobile you may not be able to see the dice icon, but you can still make a roll! :)
To make a roll you have to type [roll ], then the number and type of dice you want to roll, followed by [/roll ].
So if I wanted to roll a single 20 sided die, also known as a d20, I would type: [roll ]1d20[/roll ].
Note that there is a space after the word roll in both brackets. When you type your rolls, do not put any spaces in the roll. I did so that the system doesn't actually make the roll and you can see what you should type.
[roll] lets the system know you are starting a roll
1d20 means I want to roll 1 20 sided die
[/roll] lets the system know you are ending your roll.
Everyone try rolling 1d20 by typing [roll ]1d20[/roll ] without the spaces after roll.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Fedex uncomfortably shifts in the chair and thinks to himself, “I hate bar bets”. While still sitting, he draws his hand crossbow and instinctively aims for the bottle on the end of the bar.
EZNGenesis, go ahead and type up a short sentence describing your character doing something. For this example, let's say he's attacking something. Then make a roll to see if he is successful. Since we wanted to attack something, refer to the "Attack" section of your character sheet. I've highlighted it here:
Let's say you wanted to attack something with your Handaxe.
The Hit/DC is +2. That means you get a +2 bonus to your attack rolls when you use it!
To make an attack roll you would use the Dice Roller in the tool bar and make sure it is set to roll 1 d20. Then put your +2 bonus in the spot where it says "Add to result".
Click ok, and the system will automatically generate the macro for the roll.
To see how much damage you've done, again refer to your character sheet. Next to the Handaxe's Hit/DC is the damage it does. Yours says 1d6.
So using the Dice Roller again, set it to roll 1 d6 this time. Your character sheet doesn't list any bonuses to the damage so you don't need to put anything in the "Add to result" space.
Go ahead and try to make an attack roll following the instructions above.
I copied Fedex from a different character (variant human) and I had added crossbow expert at level one on the other one. When I copied this one, I made him a normal human but some of the feat language has been retained. I will be ignoring the bonus action/loading benefit/<5’ without disadvantage.

Not sure what happened. Both last posts were using the dice icon with the same modifiers, I think.

Another thing, the forum makes it so I would have to reload my page all the time. Is there a fix

I don't believe there is a way to make it reload constantly on its own. Anyone else know if this is possible?
