Description
A yu lung is the immature “wyrmling” form from which all lung dragons metamorphose. These juveniles understand they are vulnerable, and are therefore wary of danger. They do not risk hunting other creatures nor seek them out, instead choosing a reclusive existence.
The form of a yu lung is that of a giant carp, except for its wide-mouthed reptilian head and strong arms joined to its body below the face, which end in claws. A yu lung has scales of blue and grey, though each has unique markings of other colours. Its chin sprouts a wispy beard.
Freshwater Dwellers. Yu lungs dwell in freshwater rivers and lakes, often alongside the Spirit World territories of a chiang lung, which share the same natural environment. They sometimes live within the territories of uncaring elemental creatures or other more powerful spirits, provided those spirits are loyal to the Celestial Bureaucracy.
Docile Dragons. Carp dragons are timid scavengers that shun combat and eat whatever matter they can dig from the bottom of their lake or river home, both organic and inorganic. If forced into a fight they use tooth and claw, but rarely pursue an opponent should they flee. While they try to avoid contact, carp dragons that encounter humanoids sometimes befriend them, and such a friendship is an extremely strong bond. Barring exceptional circumstances coming between them, the bond between a yu lung and its friend lasts forever.
Masters of Mud. Like other lung dragons, yu lung live in mansions. In the yu lung’s case the mansion is made of mud and stone, located in the deepest and murkiest waters of their home. These houses are well-built but crude by the standard of other lung dragons. They are generally empty, as yu lung do not collect treasure.
