Posted Dec 21, 2022I want to play a commonor in a campaign. Is there anything that says commonors can't be classes? Surely this is acceptable right?

Posted Feb 5, 2023Assuming you could convince your DM, using the commoner's stat block and having it progress as an Expert Sidekick from Tasha's Cauldron of Everything is ... not the worst thing in the world.
You'd have one attribute restricted saving throw bonus, simple weapon and light armor proficiency, five skill proficiencies and two tool proficiencies. And the ability to use Help as a bonus action.
You'd definitely be underpowered as a PC but I assume you'd want to be doing this for RP reasons. Maybe you could persuade your DM on this. Good Luck. It's up to your DM whether they would allow the character's race to be modified like an NPC, as the rules in Chapter 9 of the Dungeon Master's Guide indicate, or as a PC and allow you to choose your race.

Posted Jun 29, 2023Considering the sheer amount of attack rolls you'd be making against that player, and how they wouldn't really be able to do anything with how they only get one turn, even with super high AC there is no way you're gonna avoid any significant amount of damage. Assuming only 15% hit that's 95 damage per round, if I'm crunching my numbers correctly. With Boon of Resilience that would only be 27 damage per round, and at that point the commoners might be in trouble, but it's still not looking good for our player here. If we're assuming that this is a 20th level fighter or something, with Haste they'd be able to reliably take out 4 commoners per round, which is not so coincidentally the amount of attacks they can make per round.
We're really helping our little player out here, and yet it's still not looking good. So, 254 all at once sounds like a good estimate. Admittedly, it would be a really boring fight to actually play out, but still, don't get cocky.

Posted Nov 30, 2023I don’t think so, they have 1 hp so you can kill them with a punch, and they can’t do any damage to you.
At least the commoner can do 4 at max..
