Description
Goblins are small, black-hearted humanoids that lair in despoiled dungeons and other dismal settings. Individually weak, they gather in large numbers to torment other creatures.
As a Dm, encounters with goblins can be easy, but if you put in enough of them, and work with them as groups, they can be a lot more of a chalange
I'm just wondering why WOTC decided to go with the goblin rooted in antisemitism (created by Hitler & the Nazis) and not the actual goblins shown in mythology?
years of nintendo games convinced me that goblins are cute with big ears, nothing could prepare me for that portrait
If Goblins are "lazy and undisciplined, making them poor servants, laborers and guards" then why isn't there a notation that they can't read or write, even if they can speak many languages? Their lack of trust in other species also contests this. Hearing something being spoken doesn't infer that you're also being taught how to read and write in said language.
You're contradicting yourself. Just like your CEO contradicts himself by saying people don't have enough time to play for an Epic Level Handbook, but he's still getting pay checks.
As far as advantage in groups goes, they don't need it. Their Nimble Escape feature makes them even more dangerous to encounter in large numbers than kobolds with their Pack Tactics feature. The latter ability loses power quickly once their numbers start going down, but being able to DE as a bonus action allows the goblins to use active defense to avoid attacks altogether rather that having to relay on their (horribly low) withstand direct attacks. They can run behind partial or even total cover (which their lairs or ambush sites should be littered with) allowing them to strike and retreat with near impunity, and reduce the effectiveness of multiple attacks and AoEs by scattering themselves about the battlefield thus making them challenging even at higher tiers of play.
Soooooo easy
Yes, in Volo's guide
no, they are at a major disadvantage alone
Yes, Volo's guide has the player version

No, not all the time. Sometimes they can be good, but most goblin's aren't.

I'm trying to make a goblin druid, with a sweet personality. However I have yet to find a good background, to really capture the sweet and shy side.
