Posted Feb 4, 2021I'm creating a short campaign, would it make sense if a group of five kobolds were guarding a bit of treasure in a random cave? we've got 4 level 1 players

Posted Apr 11, 2021I always thought that kobolds if run according to the rules if there are no specific situations including evil dragons would not attack outside of there layer and therefore usually not be suitable for low level groups as the rig there layers full of a crap ton of traps ranging from insects to falling ceilings and murder holes they can pop out of attack and retreat and are too small for others to follow except for maybe small players also with their large colonies they would really be able to take advantage of pack tactics and swarm

Posted Apr 21, 2021Kobolds are one of the few examples of creatures with less than 10 Constitution without being a CR 0 creature of some sort. The other examples (from the Monster Manual at least) are:
Swarms of Quippers, Gas Spores (though their purpose is to die, so I'm not sure that this is particularly surprising), Winged Kobolds (which are kobolds), Swarms of Ravens, Swarms of Rats, and Pixies.

Posted Sep 17, 2021Since Kobolds are basically the byproduct/blood of each True Dragon subspecies at the time of their creation (as a race), that in my headcanon, Kobolds come in all the varieties of True Dragons; Chromatic, Metallic, Gem, Void, etc.
Now i have some Gem Dragon Kobolds & Chromatic Dragon Kobolds characters to make...

Posted Nov 7, 2021How would you rule the monster version of Kobolds Sunlight Sensitivity trait if they are outside during the day but it is "clouded, raining, snowing or something simular.
Are they still in sunlight, since it is during daytime?

Posted Nov 11, 2021I'm tossing around the idea of a nasty adventure for five 7th level characters called "Death by a 1,000 kobolds" in which they will have to deal with ambushes from between 25 and 100 kobolds at a time, with the kobolds making full use of every dirty trick and trap they can come up with. I would augment the experience points, since it seems unfair for a party not to be able to level simply because the enemies' base XP value is low (in my mind, the traps and being attacked by hoardes kind of offsets that). Anyway, I've found that even smaller numbers of kobolds can be nasty opponents, even at higher levels, if they are played intelligently and use terrain and their size to their advantage.
