Amphibious. The giant can breathe air and water.
Multiattack. The giant makes two Greatsword attacks.
Greatsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +14 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 30 (6d6 + 9) slashing damage.
Rock. Ranged Weapon Attack: +14 to hit, range 60/240 ft., one target. Hit: 35 (4d12 + 9) bludgeoning damage.
Lightning Strike (Recharge 5–6). The giant hurls a magical lightning bolt at a point it can see within 500 feet of it. Each creature within 10 feet of that point must make a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw, taking 54 (12d8) lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Spellcasting. The giant casts one of the following spells, requiring no material spell components and using Charisma as the spellcasting ability (spell save DC 17):
At will: detect magic, levitate, light
1/day each: control weather (cast as 1 action), water breathing
Being able to cast waterbreathing makes it so you can have a storm giant save your party after their ship gets sunk in the middle if the ocean by a kraken or dragon turtle.
Weirdly specific, but I see your point. :D
Wish storm giants could be Playable characters.
*has 29 strength score* OP
*CR only 13* WHAT?!?!?!?!?!
I expect higher CR if it has a strength score of 29.
This might be a good match for my Dragonborn.
It's like Zues
That sounds pretty poggers bro
Since they're primarily good creatures it's more likely they'd cast it on allies so that they may aid the giant if they need to be underwater.
They can cast it on others in order to take them underwater like Tom hanks was taken in splash
whats your favorite weapon?
The reason they can cast Control Weather three times a day is so that if somebody (a king, for example), made a Storm Giant very particularly angry, aforementioned Storm Giant could go to the place that person lives (say, the capital of their kingdom?) and create a storm that never ends, as they could simply recast Control Weather every eight hours, until the offender made it up to them somehow, which could be as simple as a formal apology, seeing how Storm Giants can be.
Dice Christ, what are these comments...
water breathing is so that a storm giant seer or what have you who keeps to their underwater castle can still entertain surface dwelling guests.
Stat blocks like these are generally the average soldier of a given creature. So this is what your average storm giant who'd be outfitted for war is capable of. A dedicated seer or spellcaster would have a spellcasting trait in addition to their innate spells. It's like how all mind flayers can cast dominate person innately, and then Volo's Guide introduced the stat block for a mind flayer psion, one who had more intensely studied how to use their psionics like spells.
For non amphibious friends. It says they don't like others of their kind not that they are 100% solitary
Eeeeyyy, it's ya boy Zeus
*casually grabs lightning bolt out of the sky*
This cracked me up.
They seemed a little lonely to me, so I gave them lightning wolves as companions in my homebrew.
So wait this has the storm giant belt?
