Multiattack. The wyvern makes two attacks: one with its bite and one with its stinger. While flying, it can use its claws in place of one other attack.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one creature. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) piercing damage.
Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (2d8 + 4) slashing damage.
Stinger. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one creature. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) piercing damage. The target must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw, taking 24 (7d6) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Description
Cousins to the great dragons, wyverns have two scaly legs, leathery wings, and a sinewy tail topped with a poison stinger that can kill a creature in seconds.

Posted Jun 5, 2022Like a bird of prey. Feeding meat and bond with it by carrying with you everywhere. From what little lore I know wu verbs are bad tempered and unruly bastards, only to those who are familiar with will be tolerated. I hope this works

Posted Jun 6, 2022The beauty of a Wyvern is that it's draconic enough to be desirable as a status mount but not powerful enough to be a game changer.
Easy alterations is this is a 'feral' Wyvern, and 'domestic' Wyverns are non-venomous, have more amendable dispositions and can understand, if not speak, Draconic. And now you have the elite mounts of a prestigious kingdom or empire without being broken as all heck. Slap some barding on it along with a saddle and a rider with a lance, a heavy crossbow and some bombs and you have a formidable tag-team combo, especially in groups of them.

Posted Nov 5, 2022I agree. Also, "see the dark-winged shape of a wyvern carrying its prey" so why doesn't it have a grapple capability? As a DM I'm going to homebrew that if its claw attack succeeds then it can grapple a medium or smaller creature that fails a d20 contest. (i.e. if it hits the target can roll Athletics or Acrobatics to avoid being grappled, but they have to beat the attack roll.)

Posted Mar 4, 2023Wyverns are some of my favorite fantasy creatures! One thing I hate is when people mistake them for true dragons, though. This stat block does it justice.
