Description

The Toadtaur or Zando Devil is a rare chaotic evil creature that resides in swamps, primarily the Zando Swamp of Southern Astrana. This rarely seen amphibious creature is often described as having the body of a giant frog or toad as its lower half, with its upper half being roughly humanoid in appearance, thus the comparison to the better known centaur. The likeness ends in this rough shape however as the Zando Devil bears a four armed torso, consisting of two muscular lower arms each ending in a spiked mallet like appendage like a singular massive claw used to spear prey. Above this are two smaller arms ending in articulated hands, and above this a frog like head with a maw of needle teeth. The entire creature is covered in green skin or scales and stands 4 to 6 feet tall. They are known to stalk prey in shallow water before leaping out across terrific distances and repeatedly stabbing its prey.

Lair and Lair Actions

While few have ever been to a Zando Devils warren and lived those few who have describe them as either underwater caves or structures similar to massive beaver dens, though sometimes made of stone as well as logs. The insides are dark, cool, littered with bones and covered in slime. The Zando Devil will leap at intruders in a defensive ambush from beneath murky water in various pits on the floor. The creatures either through instinct or perhaps a malign intelligence will collapse the structure in only two or three attacks at key structure points in a last ditch effort to bury its foes in order to kill them while restrained and dig them out afterward.
