Tides of Chaos. The wild mage can gain advantage on one attack roll, ability check, or saving throw. Once they do so, they must finish a long rest before they can use this feature again.
Wild Surge. Any time the wild mage casts a spell of 1st level or higher, they have a 1 in 20 chance of sparking a wild surge. If the intended target of the spell was the wild mage or its allies, the spell targets the nearest enemy of the wild mage instead. If the intended target of the spell was an enemy of the wild mage, then it targets the wild mage instead.
Metamagic. The wild mage can choose to add any one metamagic effect to a spell that they cast. They have access to the Quickened Spell, Subtle Spell, and Twinned Spell metamagic options.
Quickened Spell. When the wild mage casts a spell that has a casting time of 1 action, they can change the casting time to 1 bonus action for this casting.
Subtle Spell. When the wild mage casts a spell, they can cast it without any somatic or verbal components.
Twinned Spell. When the wild mage casts a spell that targets only one creature and doesn’t have a range of self, they can target a second creature in range with the same spell.
Spellcasting. The wild mage is a 12th-level spellcaster. Their spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 17; +9 to hit with spell attacks). They have the following sorcerer spells prepared:
Cantrips (at will): chill touch, fire bolt, friends, frostbite, poison spray
1st level (4 slots): catapult, mage armor*, shield
2nd level (3 slots): mirror image, misty step
3rd level (3 slots): blink, counterspell
4th level (3 slots): blight, vitriolic sphere
5th level (2 slots): dominate person, wall of stone
6th level (1 slot): disintegrate
*The wild mage has this spell cast on itself before combat.
Quarterstaff. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 3 (1d8 - 1) bludgeoning damage.
Bend Luck (recharge 6). When another creature that the wild mage can see makes an attack roll, an ability check, or a saving throw, the wild mage can use their reaction to roll 1d4 and apply the number rolled as a bonus or penalty (the choice of the wild mage) to the creature’s roll. The wild mage can do so after the creature rolls but before any effects of the roll occur.
Description
Wild Mages defy traditional methods of learning the craft of magic. Their innate power springs forth in unpredictable ways and this tends to be reflected in their personality and behaviour. They can be exceptionally dangerous opponents both on and off the battlefield, and their unpredictability makes them hard to counter or account for.
